    Oil futures

Pretty wild. Oil went to NEGATIVE $20 today. That's futures close out and not the actually oil barrel but it's not good.

Yes people paying to get a contract off their hands on the possibility that physically taking delivery may not be possible.

Last day. Someone bet the price would go up with output controls, and had to dump it last minute.

Wonder what would happen if you went to QT and offered to take some of that 'negative' gas off thier hands, they wouldn't even have to pay us?

Right, that's futures and not the actual cost of a barrel of oil being pumped today. Obviously the pumping would stop if so.

As you know Russia and the Saudi's are trying to squeeze out American production by increasing their outputs thus flooding the market.

Why they are doing it now with all this virus s**t going on is anyone's guess.

I read where gasoline consumption is half of what it was this time a year ago. Seems to me it would be a lot less. The refineries have no one to sell the gasoline to. People aren't driving and jets aren't flying otherwise it would be a profitable time for refining for some.

The Saudi's have agreed to cut back production (since they are hurting themselves too) but it won't affect the May futures that much since the production is estimated in advance.

Of course, when you stop and think rationally, you will come up against the harsh reality that lives are only worth living in a stable and prosperous economy. That's why wars are fought. If you are starving to death in order to keep a stranger alive that caught Tuberculosis, or Polio, or HIV, or coronavirus you are going to rebel. That is what is happening today. We could save 50,000 lives in America alone just by instituting a 5 MPH speed limit. It would save lives, right?

What we need to do is take some actions but not shut the world down and starve millions to save thousands...

Need to see a shot of starving protesters. The ones I've seen look like they haven't skipped too many meals.

Red calling for a measured response really isn't your style. But at least you're completely vague about what might be considered reasonable.

Only a communist propaganda agent would say that the protesters are the ones that will eventually be starved and harmed by the "shutdown." No, those unfortunate people are completely involved trying to survive and feed their children. They are NOT the idiots that you see on TV... they are the real victims of the progressive, Communist, low life, progressive, garbage spouting, Cowardly jackasses I call the stooges...

The plan is simple to explain: shut stuff down for a bit to get the numbers down while getting organized to open things up with a regime of testing. If people are hungry hopefully they get some help from a church, unemployment office or food pantry. Maybe if people had better wages they could get a few paychecks ahead? Not a bad idea but clearly a problem for another day.

You're acting like the people who are planning strategy to fight this pandemic are secretly enjoying it. It figures you would look at it this way.

You know who doesn't have to worry about their next meal? Someone killed by the virus.

Added: Red I applaud your concerns for the hungry and I share them. Some of it is the shutdown but some of it is execution. Betsy DeVoss is nobody's idea of a skilled manager.
