Actually the bluer states are wealthier on average than the red, and the blue dots (cities) in red states provide a disproportionately large fraction of the state tax base.

This idea that the hard working rural resident has his tax money siphoned by the capital to pay those lazy unemployed city hordes is not validated by the facts. The reality is that cities subsidize the surrounding countryside, not the other way around. Roads alone are a decisive factor. Schools are not far behind.

Biden won't (but could) repurpose a Trumpian argument as follows: "You've been voting Republican for years and what do you have to show for it? Wages are still down. Your best young people move away. Your hospitals are closing. Your people get sicker every year. What have you got to lose by voting Democrat?"

When I was running for Congress, I pointed out that the Second Congressional District of Arkansas (Little Rock) gets four times as much highway money as the Second District (my district.) A Democrat said, "That's because they have more people."

Hel-OOO!? Apparently he never heard of the Census, or of redistricting.

For those who are slow on the uptake, the whole country is redistricted every ten years, following the Census. Each Congressional District in a given state has the SAME population (+/- 5%) as all the other districts.

Sam... are you accusing the Dems of...buying votes ? After the $billions Trump has tossed to farmers and corporations . After awarding the unemployed an extra $600 a week in unemployment which completely destroyed any desire for many to head back to work .

You talk about your family suffering under the previous administration... well for me it was at the end of GW Bushs term when there was no more work and my 401 went south . Spent two years living off my savings...ate a lot of peanut butter. Sweated repair bills on my 11 year old F150 and we had zero medical insurance ....and Obama didn't do that .

By Obama's 5th year I owned a business and employed people . I gave up peanut butter and ate in restaurants again . I no longer sweated the auto repair bills... I bought new . I purchased properties in South America and medical insurance .

Then into Trumps second year my business expenses rose 17% meaning my net was less than my first year in business....

I'm glad for you that you feel your family is prospering so well under Trump.... and their Walmart jobs ..... but it isn't working all that well for everybody

Who would have thought that Wal-Mart is an essential job? I am sorry that you are not prospering as well that is reality. Some ships rise with the tide, other's sink. We have been on too many sinking ships in our nearly 40 year marriage and for the first time are riding high.

Well, they're like "MacJobs" -- remember those? In the '80s, liberals sneered at MacJobs -- but now go look at kids who worked at MacDonald's in the 80s. On average, they're quite a bit more successful than kids who didn't have jobs as teenagers.

But the point is, our resident liberals have to have SOMEONE to sneer at, don't they.

Lyman, I didn't mean to imply there was anything wrong with Walmart jobs . During the last recession which began before the end of GWs time I went to work for Home Depot . Lasted four very long years with no place else to go before things opened up here in SW Florida and opportunities arose. And that was very pre Trump .

What really stands out is, as I mentioned in a post above ... the wife and I went from peanut butter to nice restaurants , no medical coverage to buying medical insurance , buying new vehicles etc. And because we were under Obama's presidency all my conservative minded friends kept trying to convince me I should be unhappy . Hell, it was looking good to me.

Now conservatives happily living off of Walmart wages are telling me how tough it was under Obama. Obama who inherited the financial mess from a previous administration.

And Vern... you mention Liberals needing some one to sneer at .

Well Vern , you get on this forum and brag that you could donate your entire income from a job into the stock market because you already receive a 20 yr Captains pension.
You withdrew some of the investments to buy the daughter a house and made that withdrawal back in just a few months .....sneer or brag ?

So ... Vern, whats the difference between a brag and a sneer? and if I may.... at your age are the investment losses from the last two months gonna come back before you are dead ?

The reason Vern has people on ignore is that he knows his arguments fold like a cheap suit when tested, and he can't bear to see it. Notice he hardly tries anymore so he knows it happens.

But I too remember his stock market brag, and unless he jumped on Covid-19 and timed the market, he took one heck of a bath. Do you think he'd want to admit here that he was betting against the Trump administration? The time to sell was when the GOP Senators were dumping their shares while Trump talked the market up.
