What surprises me is the willing compliance of Police Depts

People want to work in order to eat and pay rent and if State
and local bureaucrats keep preventing them from doing this

I would venture that this situation is akin to the Japanese internment. It is ad hoc. Some states do this and some states do that. I get the Japanese internment. Sadly some of that was based on running off competition.

What surprises me is the willing compliance of most of the public (i.e., the mindless, ignorant, herd) to the idiocy of wearing masks, when MDs have said a thousand times on TV that the ordinary ones WON'T stop the virus, & that their ONLY use is to prevent spreading it further than 6' when someone is COUGHING, or in the most intensely crowded conditions, like inside an airplane or subway car. Furthermore, if 6' is "safe," as we are told, what's the point of the mask when that distance is maintained? The main point of the mask is fostering fear.

The CDC, long in decline, is almost irrelevant under the current administration.

That said, there are parts that continue to function, like the heart or kidneys of a brain dead person. This is what they say about cloth masks, which is more or less in line with the advice of countries that aren't brain dead and are trying to deal with the virus in a meaningful way.

This TOTALLY contradicts what Fauci & many other MDs have said about the protection of a cloth mask, except, as I said, in the case of such an idiot as might be circulating in public with a cough; what such a cougher needs isn't a mask, but a beating severe enough to take him OUT of circulation for several months. I'll believe these MDs, not an agency which considers it has a mission to nullify the 2nd A. The mask isn't for protection, it's for maintaining the highest possible level of fear.

Perhaps so about the CDC, but in other countries where unlike here success is had against the virus, mask wearing is common. It might just be another way of getting people invested in being part of the solution, not the problem.

The mask can help stop droplets that may contain the virus when someone coughs or sneezes, but it does not trap individual virus particles. The virus is way too small to filtered out by even a N95 mask. They also don't have a leak proof seal up against your face. They can help somewhat, but are hardly a "bullet proof" barrier.
