If you yourself have decided to discount the virus in your planning, that's fine, provided you don't infect anyone else, or seek medical attention, thereby putting others at risk. That's you balancing personal freedom and personal responsibility.

Even so yours is probably a minority opinion for now. Most will take a "wait and see" approach. If cases drop, more venture forth. If they rise, probably not, except only where desperation drives them.

It because I do not fear it.

I say the 23 Psalm every day.Even when it was building back in early March my wife and myself both said we don't fear it.I don't think I am in the minority. But you are the one who enjoys pushing the fear factor in all of your posts.

If someone asked me if they should use opiates, I would tell them, "No." If they go ahead and do it anyway, what further obligation do I have to them?

NO moral obligation, but our nanny-state gov't requires you & all other taxpayers to finance their repeated ER visits, Narcan, & other med costs. Narcan is the dope-head's life-ins policy, & it's now sold over the counter, if not given away by do-gooders, so ODs have been drastically reduced, unfortunately.

Someone is not his brother's keeper!

The case for getting addicts into some kind of program usually involves the self-interested motive to prevent theft in different forms as an addict steals to feed a habit.

I ain't got no dope-heads or thieves for brothers. Only effective prevention for that kind of theft is an OD without Narcan. Prison used to be a temporary prevention, but now only big-time dealers risk incarceration. Every dope-head OD is a blessing for society.

I look at this like I look at the Ross rifle (I have one). It is possible to reassemble it so the bolt won't lock, but will fire -- and put the bolt right through you face. If the Canadians had kept that rifle, their average IQ would be about 5 points higher today.

This virus is a wraith. It's invisible. Don't you just wish it glowed in the dark? Testing is a shot in the dark somewhat. You can be a carrier and not show symptoms. You can be tested and not show symptoms. You can feel perfectly fine and be shedding the virus on others.
Miss AIDS much? It just killed queers, drug addicts and idiots(mostly). Another awful story about people being neglected lately, the MS-13 gang members and other undesirables are not being treated properly in S. American prisons. Probably the only fifteen seconds I'll see about that subject for a while.

A social disinfectant, in other words. But thankfully, a billion $ spent in research for a cure has made sodomy safe again.
