Democrats have found the weak spot - Schools ...

If they can keep the Schools closed for the rest of the year,
this will ensure that one of the parents, probably the Woman
will have to forgo getting back to work in order to stay home
with the kid or kids. Day care would be too expensive and
hiring a babysitter would entail a lot of trust. So, a huge
chunk of the workforce would be immobilized. Dr Fauci, the
chief proponent of school closings is bumping heads with
Trump over this and the President may have finally realized
that the good Doctor has an agenda and it's not for helping
    his administration.

Well, there's a problem: What do the parents do in normal times when the school year ends? Do the mothers have to drop out of work for the summer -- or do they have some alternate plan?

So the school year ended early this spring. Implement the old, routine child-care plan that you used last year.

Implement the child care plan... Well it would be fine if the parents actually had jobs to which they could go to make the money needed to make the childcare actually worth while. Many of the jobs that have been destroyed by this frantic response to covid19 will not come back. Simple reason why. Many of the businesses that provided those jobs are not going to be able to come back. You got to have cash to get through months of no business. And most small businesses simply don't have that kind of cash available. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

The point is, to quote Cow Flop Carville, "It's the economy, stupid" -- not the schools.

The virus will decide if schools stay open or not. If a bunch of teachers get sick, there will not be substitutes willing to come in. Gotta keep teachers healthy if you want to have any kind of instruction at all, even online.

Which is to say, if a good vaccine comes out, teachers + families near the front of the line along with cops, firefighters, medical workers.

They have money to afford Day Care that isn't riddled with a Virus.
Also friends not riddled with a Virus can babysit

Right, keep everything shut down 'til we get a vaccine. Who needs the economy anyway ?
Why work when the Democrats are prepared to pay everyone thousands a month ad infinitum

Go ahead and tell Trump to return the country to the way it was 2 months ago and see how well the economy does. Put everyone back to work, open all the schools, stores, restaurants, and it's close to summer ,open the parks and beaches too. As for me, I'm doing fine just the way it is, I'll wait. If you want to change things, Run for president!

DT seems like you were born too late and your dream job would have been in personnel for the BEF under Kitchner and Haig, as in "the supply of heroes must be maintained at all costs!"

Does that mean you're still getting a paycheck? Not one of those waiting in the mile-long food-line shown a few hours ago on the evening news? Don't remember where it was, but similar things happening all over the country; you gotta be pretty desperate to spend half the day waiting for hand-outs that won't last even a week. Hell, if I was a teacher, gov't worker, etc., I'd be hoping the shut-down NEVER ended!

So am I...but it doesn't make me blind to the problems of working people who've had the rug pulled out from under them.

I have already given money to the food bank and if and when I get a stimulus check I'll pay for a couple of anti-body tests at the hospital for people who will need it to return to work but can't afford it. Between my pension, SS and some investments I'm o.k. but there's people here who are stressed. I am getting more take out than I have in two years and I'll continue to do so until we open up. I told the owner of the place I go for coffee the motels, gyms, bars and restaurants should form a class action and refuse to pay property taxes for the part of the year they were shutdown. We all have to share the burden. Including the State House and City Hall.

                            Not a bad idea.

The one great fault in the American system is lack of accountability ion government. If government had to pay for all the crap they pull, there'd be a lot less crap.

Let's start by holding the Federal Government accountable for it's half-assed and self-congratulatory response to Covid-19.

And CH wants to be a champion of working people now. Super. Where to start? Easy. Get a handle on the virus--do something to take away from their risk, not add to it, while they try to earn a living.
