"Eagle Plan"? More like "Sucker Plan"

Give people up front cash in exchange for reduced Social Security benefits on the back end. As a way of saving the government money.

Which means: people who take the deal will either be desperate for cash or have poor impulse control. Either way the $10K will be gone long before retirement, and it will hit the people with less means of recovering the hardest. Unless they decide to make it mandatory for everyone, including current retirees. Of course they won't do that.

The general rule is when something like this comes down the line, to save the institution money, the flip side of it is that it will cost you money. They dangle the cherry out there ($10K) because they know some people will bite without thinking it through. And then later on when they have buyers remorse we'll have to bail them back out. So better plan is to not do this in the first place.

Everyone's a Democrat when issues like this come up. Except for the Republican Donor Class.

There will be those who support this, i.e., bird in hand/two in bush, etc. Given inflation, the buying power of 10K today will require many multiples to be equivalent in the years to come. Personally, not interested in the plan. Rather let the generation that enjoyed the benefits of boom time pay the bill. To put it bluntly, I do not think it is right for our children and grand children and great grand children to be saddled with debt that largely benefited our parents and ourselves. Let the costs fall on our shoulders. Let ours be the second greatest generation. Let ours be the generation that learns the meaning of sacrifice for the future of our nation. Our descendants will praise us for it. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce

The gov't needs to stop trying to support the rest of the world. This will be a hard pill for do gooders to swallow but we cannot afford it any longer! All these wars in other countries do is blow the country up and and kill innocent people. Most are started by outsiders just like riots in this country! Just my opinion and not from the Daily Blab!

This administration has continued down the dark path of socializing all the risk for the small percentage that own a majority share of stocks. The market is not the economy.

Cut all companies and financial institutions off, let them rebuild. I'm happy to be at an age where this will no longer be my generations problem. It's been a good run!

What grinds my teeth is the welfare system. 20% of my State's budget goes to welfare. And the welfare humanoids still want more! When a person on welfare gets $700+ dollars per month for food, pays only $25 per month for housing, gets free cell phones every year, a used car to drive and food pantrys they raid once a month, then sells part of their welfare to buy $200 shoes, there is something wrong! Plus they are young and healthy and able to work!

Was it really necessary? Must we continue to add turmoil in other countries for years on end? What have we really accomplished at the cost of our people and resources?
