Is It The Shutdowns Or Fear Of The Disease

...that has dampened the economy and led to steep job losses?

They're interrelated, but ultimately if people don't feel safe they're going to hunker down, regardless of what their favorite politicians say.

Meanwhile a friend in Slovenia sent a pic of full parking lots in Ljubljana, saying things have really picked up there. But they had severe restrictions and people followed them. He expects the disease to return, maybe soon, but for now he and other Slovenians feel like they can mostly go about their business, and so they do. Masks are mandatory inside shops.

Same thing can be said about Sweden, where life has been allowed to go on as normal; just the way I TRY to live my own life, except that in a sea of hysteria, surrounded by panicked, mindless, sheep, that ain't easy.

Highest death rate per capita. No surprises there.

Sounds like they are the sheep you fear.

If that's true, I admire their courage; wouldn't have thought the Swedes had much of it left. But lets all hope the death rate is highest among that swarm of foreign invaders they allowed into their country (& fed & housed) over the last several yrs.

Certainly the Swedes are NOT the sheep, or they'd be following the herd path set by the rest of Europe. I don't fear the sheep, I hold them in contempt & derision, but being forced by circumstances imposed by the Dictatorship in which I'm trapped to mingle with them (chiefly in the grocery store, almost the only "public space" I've set foot in during the last 2 months) is humiliating. But it's a humiliation I must bear, or starve.
