As they say the rest of the story.. the fired Fl health data manager

Who said she was fired because she disobeyed orders to hide coronavirus data from the public received big play by all Lib the news agencies

The news media made a big cry of it being a political and Trump ordered firing because the manager released info she wasn't supposed to...

A spokeswoman for Florida Gov. Ron Desantis, Helen Ferre, said May 19 that Jones was fired for insubordination, a rejection of her claims that she was fired for refusing to comply with orders to hide coronavirus data from the public.

The former Florida Department of Health data manager has received ample media coverage over her claims that she was fired after she objected to the removal of certain data from the state’s public-facing coronavirus dashboard.

But the data in question has been available to the public since early May, and documents reported by The Associated Press Sunday show that Rebekah Jones was fired after she repeatedly overstepped her duties as a data manager despite being warned multiple times about her behavior.

Actually Ray the stories could be aligning. They asked her to fudge some Covid stuff. She refused, so they fire her for insubordination.

History is loaded with examples where we wish people could have been more insubordinate. Can give you a few if you need them.

I know that's what those major news articles said and wanted you to believe....but what Covid stuff wouldn't she fudge? Please advise...

Would think the devil is in the details and there's not much point in you and I litigating this one since both sides are probably savings their best ammo for the wrongful termination lawsuit.

I was in public service government management for over 35 years and it says she was warned multiple times. So what ever she did it was not her first violation. Standard employment practice three times and you're out.....She can repeal it but I'm sure it was probably run through the state/county attorney to make sure the action was just, as it would cost a lot of money to have a weak case that has no teeth.

Just a guess as she was only in the particular position only a few months. and possibly still in her probation period, she maybe was just not doing a passing job overall. If it becomes an issue onward, I'm sure we will hear about it more...

Maybe she worked in a department run by idiots! The specifics matter. If you find them, let me know.

BTW, per your own rules of evidence here you should be sending me a link to the docs the AP references. But no worries, if I really need to see them then I'll go find them myself (an attitude I encourage upon others as well).

Well this is Florida ... we fired all our scientists that were studying our water issues . Red tide on all the shorelines and algae infested canals.... not to mention the "big swamp" issues.

Seems we didn't like what the scientists had to say and so Governor DeSantis replaced them all with a fishing boat Captain to take charge of our water issues.

Who needs scientists ? ...... most fishing boat Captains have a High School diploma , right?

On the side of clean air and water, health or anything else that get's in the way of large business down here .... you're gone.

A bit more even-handed portrayal of the story. Local media is usually the best place to go for it.

State records show that Rebekah Jones, the woman who helped curate Florida's COVID-19 dashboard, had been reprimanded several times and ultimately fired for violating Health Department policy by making public remarks about the information.

Added: if she's a bad apple in the barrel, I doubt she's the only one, or that they're all to be found at or below her level in the chain of command. Sh*tty bosses are a staple of government.

That link you posted the point is no different....Just included her side of the story on why she "violated" the rules....

I'm beginning to think you may have or had a problem with some managers as per your posts....
Your Quotes..Maybe she worked in a department run by idiots! ...and

Wow you're skewed. The article gives quotes from both sides, doesn't overreach for conclusions but to you that's proof of bias because it doesn't flush her fast enough.

Fact.. she was fired for a violation of the rules and not her first..No matter what her story is.....That is the facts..Nothing personal as I don't know her from Adam..Just going by reading the facts of the case and I'm adding nothing of my personal feelings to the story.....

Yes and she was fired for it. As to the right and wrong of it the ice is thinner. You may not like whistleblowers but that doesn't mean they don't have their place in it all.
