For sure Klobuchar's prospects as a Veep candidate are history. Minnesota is a beautiful state, and there's a lot of money in the Twin Cities. They're kinda up there all by themselves, no comparable metro areas for hundreds of miles in any direction. Aside from the winters being kinda long, they figure they got a good thing going up there and they want to keep it that way. But also there are these earnest Liberals--usually churchgoing types--who thought it was important to extend a welcoming hand to Somalis. That had produced some mixed results, but all not bad as some would say. They're not afraid to work, but do want to stop what they're doing and pray 5 times a day.
For Minneapolis the deal starts IMO with their lakes. Within city limits lake shoreline was long ago deemed public property, so there is a lot of public access shoreline, and right nearby, some affluent neighborhoods that want to stay that way. Not so far from there of course are blue collar neighborhoods for working class people. The Twin Cities once had a Ford Assembly Plant, and back in the day it was actually where many of the world's mainframe computers were manufactured. Control Data, Univac, Honeywell, all big names at one time. But anyways you got nice neighborhoods close to less nice ones, and over time a pretty firm policing strategy for keeping a lid on things. Even going back to the 1960's unrest, Minneapolis police were not ones to F--- around. If cops in NYC are Irish, then in Mpls they're German.
I know a guy who runs a private campground on the same MN lake where my wife splits ownership of their parent's cabin with her brothers. This guy is a retired Mpls Fire Captain. His campground is blitzsauber (neat as a pin) and his main business is families coming down from ND. I don't even need to ask him where he comes down on this.
Back to Klobuchar. When they look they will find that her office followed the usual procedures with regards to police misconduct complaints, and that there is very little history of her bucking the union. None of that has been an issue up to now, and maybe won't be within the state going forward to her next Senate campaign. But in the present light she's doomed nationally.
