    Political Correctness has consequences ...

It's no doubt far too PC to interfere with people burning down
St John's Church built back in 1816, desecrating the flag, or even
hindering a similar group of thugs tearing down Civil War Monuments.
Can't stop them setting fires and destroying local businesses - that would
no doubt hurt their delicate feelings, so the democrats running these
liberal bastions turn a blind eye or find excuses to blame Trump. Anyone
or anything as long as it's not them.
Political correctness is worse than the Chinaflu in that it doesn't merely
make your nose run, it subverts the language, excuses outrageous
behavior and leaves the road open for precisely what we're witnessing.
Getting rid of PC is second only in importance to getting rid of Antifa.

local liberal mayor had no issue for 2 nights of protests,

broken windows, police station included, and a local 4 star hotel,

next night they got real and moved to a high in city neighborhood, and a relatively woke area, and broke into a UDC museum (which oddly enough is on a street named for Arthur Ashe and has a new statue that was promoted a racial healing nearby) and broke in, burning a few things that can never be replaced,

then, miraculously, the mayor passed a curfew and had over 200 arrested the next night ,

and most were out of towners,, go figure

I wonder, how did the symbols of empire endure in the colonies England had to give up?

I heard Captain Cook was delicious, BTW.

Here is Harry Truman's view of PC. He said, "Political correctness means it is possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

The British Empire's legacy is that most of the World now speaks English.
It is the Airlines' "International Language"
Not too bad an accomplishment I'd say.

Actually, English in ATC and Cockpits is thanks to the ICAO conference of 1951. A UN Organization, and is French in origin. Nice try though.

Oh, do learn how the quotation feature works on the forum. It will be much more pleasant for the rest of us. Thank You.

The Germans would not have conquered England -- but without the Americans, they'd be speaking Russian in Paris.

Yes, but why was English, not French, selected? Because the Empire had spread it to all corners of the globe. For the same reason, it's why that in almost every foreign country, when the sign on a road, building, police car, etc., is written in 2 languages, the 2nd one is always English. India, with its dozens of different languages, would be ungovernable without English as a common, "neutral," language.

Maybe not--the aristocracy & intelligentsia of Imperial Russia were brought up to speak French.

Without Ami men and material, in both 1914-18 and 1939-45, the German Empire rises over Europe.

But by 1945, they were all dead.

The Red Army pulverized the Nazi Army, and would have wound up "liberating" all of Europe, including France if not for the US -- England alone could not have pulled off the D-Day landings and subsequent campaigns.

Same reason dollars are the currency of oil. American influence, not British.
