Why we have bad policemen and teachers who don't get fired

    Because unions protect them.

It shouldn’t surprise conservatives that police unions significantly contribute to police misbehavior.
After all, conservatives have long understood that teachers unions are a big source of the dysfunction in our education system and an impediment to meaningful reform. It is the job of a union to protect the job of the worst worker as much as the best one. Consequently, teachers unions don’t only ensure that bad teachers remain on the job, they can corrupt the incentive structures of an entire district. Soon, it’s not just a few bad apples, but the barrel itself that’s rotten.

Liability insurance might reduce the taxpayer's requirement to pay out for bad actors in these lawsuits.

I've been saying that for a long time Ray. Guys like Bob Kroll (overwhelmingly popular president of Mpls police union) take me back to the old days in Milwaukee, growing up amidst a bunch of kids whose dads were both union guys and seriously racist. Decided that wasn't the life for me and never looked back. And actually, police unions don't give a sh*t about the union movement in general. Look at the Minneapolis 1934 General Strike. Cops like to benefit from the tools forged by labor movements in their own dealings with City Hall, but when it comes to respecting union solidarity outside on the streets, forget it. If that sounds like a slightly mixed message on unions, it's true. On the one hand, I don't like how some guys lean on seniority rules and strong contracts to turn into lazy SOBs and how contracts are written with this goal seemingly in mind--paid vacation on the job if you last long enough. On the other hand, some of the SOBs wear suits and ties, and it has been said that those who get unions probably deserve them.

One has to realize that if all bad teachers were held to the same level as cops the NEA would lose a significant portion of their income from dues and the children will get a better education.

In my experiences very few cops have been bad cops while the majority of my teachers would have been considered bad teachers.

Every union is a conspiracy against the general public. WE are forced to pay higher prices -- and in the case of public service unions, like the police and NEA -- higher taxes for substandard products and services.

You got it backwards. If a teacher smacks a kid, it's all over. If it's a cop, then it has to be on video, and really bad, and even then they may find an excuse.

Personally I have seen more bad teachers/professors then cops! We took our daughter out of a liberal failing school system who was more interested in "political" motivation then education and the school showed it.

                  think about that,

                  insurance guys get more $$$

who pays the premium, the Dept? where does that money come from.....

or if the Cop pays, will that be part of his benefit package, or paid thru the Union?
will the Union barter to get that in the contract for the dept or city to pay?

Pity we cannot ask them what kind of student you were. And apparently they did not teach US History at your school.

Ray he literally doesn't know what is in the First Amendment, and considers peaceful protests to be a luxury dispensed at the pleasure of the police, like say in Russia or China. If you don't have a problem with such a display of ignorance on such a fundamental point, then my question to you is: why the hell not? Because Social Studies was a dumb and boring class?

Leave it up to the troll to defend the liberal public school system.

And no they did not teach actual U.S. history--just what they wanted you to believe.
