Minneapolis to abolish the city's police force

Minneapolis councilors have vowed to abolish the city's 'toxic' police force after the death of George Floyd
Can a city survive without a police force? Minneapolis is about to find out: Council vows to dismantle 'toxic' police force over mayor's objections

Bet there will be a lot of people leaving the city if they do that. Would you want to live or move there? I think the liberials have completely lost their minds..

...Togor with your hate for the police are you going to move back there now? Lol.. Lol

Robbing, looting, killing, etc. would be so much easier without police interference.

you think OCP has the contract now and a few Robocops will be released?

or will this be a real time version of The Purge?

If I had an ounce of ambition, I'd go there and rob the banks before the other looters got there.

Recommended by a friend, have not read. But he says the author gives a brief explanation how order was kept in ancient times.

In NYC Mayor DiBlazio has said he will use the funds for the police for other purposes. Meanwhile nearly 300 of the police there have been injured by the rioters.

The reformers cluck about following the model of Camden, New Jersey in abolishing their police force. Here is what actually happened. Camden signed am MOU with the county to provide police services. The county force then doubled in size and patrolled Camden exclusively. Originally non union, the force has subsequently unionized. There are now far more police contacts with the citizenry than before, although there are extensive procedures delineating the use of force. Far more of the police are younger and whiter and live outside the city (90% black). Murder rates fell. Remember cops were doubled in number.

I once asked one of my black ex-con clients [he actually went straight when he turned 35!] which he would rather have confront him. A trained cop or a "citizen" with a gun, his answer was the cop. I asked him why and in his vernacular, "The citizen will shoot my black ass!" was his reply. I have the feeling that many people regardless of color will have this happen when police are no longer there.

Apparently the Minneapolis city council not only has the "yes" votes to pass an ordinance abolishing the police but enough to override a Mayoral veto. It's going to be interesting.

What's interesting about this is, not only can you shoot in self-defense, but there will be no police to investigate and second-guess your decision.

The money the Mayor saves will be spent on hiring private security to protect he and his cronies.
