Lisa Bender of city council has dodged the question as to who will provide security and law enforcement. Anoka County sheriff has said piss up a rope-on your own. Love them hyper liberal female city planner/community organizers.

As I recall one of the ways that the Romans kept order was to throw murderers of a cliff called the Tarpeian Rock which was about 80 ft high. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarpeian_Rock

Okay so reactions aside, it has been pointed out that using the cops like a multi-tool for everything from a schizophrenic episode to a disobedient 4th grader to an armed robbery maybe isn't the way to go. Even police will tell you they get called on stuff that could be handled more cost-effectively by non-police. I don't know what the burn rate is per hour of a cop's time, but I bet there are some things that could be done more cheaply and with less chance of going south.

when the company I used to work for hired them for Security, it was $35 an hour, non negotiable, for county cops,

If half of that were to go to hourly wages, they're making less than $40K/yr annual wage excluding overtime. Seems like there is a wage scale problem there, although I know that when things are going right they do a lot of "nothing much".

I don't think the county got any of the cash, they just set the standard for hiring police officers

For the nation this will be an interesting experiment in what not to do, same for LA and NY. Wonder what Chicago will do? I hope that things will go well for them but the deck is stacked against them. All one has to do is to look at societal history to get parallels. 50 years ago there were hippie communes, a societal experiment in egalitarian government. Many did not last but a few years due to human id. Humans are either leaders, followers, shove's to some extent.
In 1931 the Mafia violently reorganized itself and formed the "Commission" which has served their needs pretty well for almost 80 years. Question is would this form of government work well for other's? The Greeks gave their society "Democracy" or a form of mob rule. I believe it was Plato who said this form of government works well up to about 5,000 people and then becomes unwieldly. In modern times the Swiss have this type of government which seems to work pretty good for them.
