A few points:

1. The person recording acts like they've seen this sort of thing before.

2. If you have to get up to chase someone before shooting them in the back, then your life probably isn't in danger. But the guy did aim the taser. That will be enough to justify the shooting, whether it was necessary in the big picture or not.

3. This scene is never portrayed on TV cop shows.

Atlanta PC resigned over this one.

The guy resisted and pointed the taser, but the thing is bright yellow. In the recent past, considered justified. But everything getting a fresh look these days. My guess...even if they brought charges, no conviction. Probably the cop finds another line of work.

Bottom line is these two guys couldn't bring in a drunk alive. A life is a life.

If one scrolls down from that vid in the link, there's another one of a cop who can't write a simple speeding ticket without antagonizing the motorist, and calling for backup. I'm with the motorist's wife on that one--chill out a sec, honey--but the cop is no help at all, and only goes to confirm the motorist's worst fears with his inability to see beyond his own biases.

So Ray, drunks never fight? Get disorderly? If anything the response should be amplified, because the higher brain functions are impaired by alcohol, maybe other drugs too.

Shooting is justified, letting it get to that is a failure.
