Report: Shootings Surge After NYPD Disbands Anti-Crime Unit

Reports indicate that shootings in New York City surged last week following the NYPD’s decision to disband its plainclothes anti-crime unit.

The New York Post reports the unit was disbanded on Monday, June 15, 2020, and the week ended with “28 [shooting] incidents and 38 victims.”

During the same week in 2019 there were only 12 shootings.

What did they expect? Does chopping holes in the bottoms of the life boats keep the ship from sinking?

Perhaps the "good" mayor of NY wants to show Chicago something!

It's a competition -- the New York Giant Thugs against the Chicago Bloody Socks in the World Series of Violence.

They got rid of plain clothes police but not the police, all plain clothes police went to wearing their uniforms. Shooting and killings has been the same even when they had plain clothes police crime units. Its the matter of doing your job or not or the case is its so out of control they cant do nothing or dont bother. on that note why pay more money for something that dont work anyway.

You could say the same thing about the Public School system.

Uniform police officers and a plainclothes anti-crime unit, do not perform the same functions.... I would suspect that the large street crimes occurring has demanded more street officers. Were investigating burglary's, stolen goods, and other white collar, crimes like gambling, gang crimes, organized crimes etc, now have taken a back seat..
