CH do you wear seat belts when you drive? The masks are like seat belts, but by you wearing one it helps protect others, and when they do it they help protect you.

Protect OTHERS? The classic excuse & justification of the born do-gooder: "It's for your own good, so shut up & do as you're told." Even clearer proof that "it's all about social control."Comment

There is science behind the policy but I doubt it would move you a millimeter.
This link sent to me by a friend. May make you feel less alone on this subject.

Indoors the masks are a very good idea. Outdoors the virus dissipates quickly such that the mask accomplishes less. "Real working people", unless they're epidemiologists, have no claim on expertise.Comment

If you can breath through them easily and speak half way clearly while wearing one are they doing any good?
I've read where the best mask (the 3M N95) smallest openings are 3 mils. The average virus bacteria are 1 mil and that the only way a mask can stop the bacteria is if several try to enter at once and clog the openings.
I think they make a "better than nothing" splatter screen if you sneeze but I doubt if you breath in bacteria laden air you are accomplishing anything by wearing one.
If you are high risk or have a respiratory illness a respirator is the way to go. I wore them at work occasionally--you can't even smell oil base paint fumes so you know they are filtering well.Comment

Ever read the whole manual that comes with a "real" respirator? Probably not, it's a whole 12x12 folded up sheet in very small letters. Even the scientists say,the masks are not perfect, but it helps. Yeah, it's some kind of Socialism if you want to paint it that way, but it's cooperation that makes us successful. Even monkeys and other mammals ect. cooperate. I have worn a mask. And I have always said, I'd never visit China just for that reason. It's weird. I'll never get over the feeling that this is all a dream. A bad dream. Just when I started to relax a little(like all those kids at the bars) I get another hit of depressing news. It is a new world I think from here on out. Get used to it. Or not if your stubborn and luddite and proud of it.If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.Comment

That's a valid point of view, & many are happy to live under those terms; however, they don't deserve to be living in a FREE (allegedly) country, & should move to one of the socialist utopia's of Europe, where their lives are planned from cradle to grave.Comment

How deadly would the virus half to be for you to support the collective goal of containing it? If evidence showed that older males had a higher mortality would that matter?Comment

But not enough for you to participate in the group activity. Again, wondering what mortality statsyou would need to endorse a strong civic response that prioritizes controlling the virus over normal activities. Talk about freedom is misleading in my opinion. In the end, like so many things do, controlling Covid or not comes down to prioritizes.Comment

We notice that you NEVER use the real & original name, Wuhan.
Anyway, what it comes down to is exercise of common sense, not a mindless "one size MUST fit all," all places, all situations, idiocy that you & the other collectivists seek to impose by force. Like I said, collectivism your ideal society? Go to Denmark.Comment
