Vern I believe the weapons being developed by North Korea are actually being developed and funded by the CHICOMS and using the North as a straw man. China is and has been the elephant in the room in North Korea.

China just attacked the west with a biological weapon so I'm not really concerned about conventional forces in the Pacific. You and I both know that we don't have enough boots on the ground to fight a war in Korea like we did in the 50's.

Then why would we want a war to start?

When I was in the 2nd Infantry Division, we had an annual exercise called "Team Spirit" in which we practiced rapidly reinforcing South Korea, including massing naval support. We did that not only for preparedness, but also to show the North Koreans what we could do.

As for North Korea being a Chinese puppet, the Chinese have influence, but not control. If we weren't in Korea, they'd play a different game.

When I was in Korea, the job of the 2ND ID was to keep the South Koreans from going north.....not the North from going south. I admit the situation could have changed in 45 years.
