Similar situation on most other boards such as S&W. Unfortunate, but it's unfortunate we have to watch the country torn apart by violent anarchists, while next to nothing is done to restrain them. Should we hide our heads in the sand, as is done on the dullest & most unresponsive forum I patronize, the Winchester board? Are the "vocal few" somehow inhibiting others from chiming in? I hope not, but what can be done to encourage them?

for the record, I have had limited success talking to Pat,
she replies to PM's about every 2 or 3 months, and says very little,

as far as S&W forum, wasn't that owned by a guy named Mike that sold it off or something and started Sigforum?

and since it has been bought by one of the conglomerates (vertical scope or similar) just like snipers hide, gunboards, and a few others,

Without the troll with multiple names most all talk here would be friendly and gun related. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure that out though.

Some feel they have to be a little caustic to combat the acid that's here. Of course that's one of the many downsides of not using the ignore button.

As far as others before the troll goes I agree but he/they have mostly cleaned up their act and now primarily respond to the politics of the liberal. Here again, w/o the constant negative comments most foul rebuttal threads would vanish. What would there be to argue about?

The 2nd Amendment seems to tne the most active forum on the board. The other forums don't see the level of traffic. So, yes, I think the silent many don't use the 2A forum either because they don't have anything they want to say, or they just don't want the hassle here.

This is after all a gun board, and the other forums offer gun talk that is more to what they have/want to discuss so why should they even look/participate in 2A? I wonder if it is possible to put the 2A forum on ignore, and just look at the others when using quick links to view vew posts? Then you could see what's new on all posts except 2A?

I think the real answer is to not go there in the first place.

There are TWO, both about equally active, as far as I can tell. The one I follow was bought by a Canadian exploiter about 4 mos ago for the purpose of selling ads, which I have defeated by use of an ad-blocker. These exploiters also own the Colt, M&P, "National" forums.

That wasn't long ago at all and there was plenty of bickering going on then just like now. I think this attendance was mostly because it was in the height of everyone staying home with nothing to do but watch TV and play on the computer.

As far as dwindling gun talk I feel most of us "old timers" have already asked or know what we need about our specific weapons. New members and inexperienced users can look up most of what they need in the internet.

Though active members are way down, there are still a lot of viewers who could inquire about guns, ammo, reloading and such but perhaps just don't need to.

I imagine if you checked the other gun websites you would find low levels of activity there as well.

Over the past few decades land has been drying up, hunting and hunting grounds have diminished in many areas. People just don't have a place to shoot, antique weapons have soared in prices so fewer people collect them.

Many people have a Glock in their sock drawer or a loaded AR in the closet and there they will sit for all eternity unless needed. What can they say about them? I'm just grabbing at straws here obviously but I see gun ownership attitudes changing. For example, where I live I can shoot any type weapon I want and use to but since so many people have moved in around me I don't care for anyone to know I have guns---I don't want to advertise them. I choose to go to the range, which I seldom do. I won't be wearing anything out and have little need for additional reloading except to build up stock. Others I speak to have the same or similar views.

When I was young turkey shoots were common. We had friends who owned a huge clay pit who let us shoot too. Now days no one knows anyone and don't particularly want to shoot with them or let them shoot on their property. Plus there's the liability of it. Public shooting events are often soured by undercover BATF agents who are there to snoop and the way things are going now who wants to go to a place where there just may be a crazed shooter or someone staging an anti-gun "accident"?

A good and heartfelt post Gun Smoke. A Turkey shoot? What the h*** is that? I was raised in the country but, while I've heard the term, I don't know anything about it. Dad took us out and we shot the '03 and the .22 at paper targets but that was the extent of it. My Boy Scout outfit didn't do guns. There are probably a lot of pistols in sock drawers. But if you don't know the outcome or suspect it, it is probably going to go badly. Meaning, no one has the chuspah to really shoot someone. If you know that there will be a hearing and you will be(Hillary style) raked over the coals then you know what's involved in actually shooting someone, hopefully, leagally. I hope I never have to shoot someone with out my muffs on.
Remember AM radio? Well I do. You know how annoying it is to hear the same tune over and over? Well, that's the stooges(and I use that term lightly). Stooges left and right. A tip of the hat to Red. Maybe I should be banned, because, believe you me I can be caustic and being stuck in the house for three months is setting up some bubbelism.

Except for commentary on "current events," which is very active. Another reason for apparent lowered levels of activity is the sheer proliferation of boards! I'm constantly discovering one I've never heard of previously. For ex., TWO S&W boards, each with about the same no. of users! And even more of them devoted to one aspect or another of military arms. The result: a limited no. of users spread out too thinly over too many separate boards. Consolidation would help to correct this, but the "owners" of them would not like to hear that, because some would have to surrender control of their fiefdoms.

there are a few sites I visit daily that are quite active, ,


some, CMP and Milsurps come to mind, have sections that are slow to have new posts, but not even close the low levels here,


you can make all the excuses you want, since you are the long time lurker, short time member, but the facts still stand,

those that come back leave quickly, and cite this section and the 'cliques' as the reason why
