Who's fault is it that few blacks visit the National parks?

Fox News host Tucker Carlson called U.S. National Park Service acting director David Vela a “moron” who should “resign or be fired” for interjecting race into a discussion about who visits the parks.

The Fox News host then played an ABC clip interviewing Vela where they say that America’s National Park Service says that the “persistent whiteness” of their parks is an “existential crisis.”

He Should Resign Or Be Fired’: Tucker Carlson Calls Park Service Director A ‘Moron’
Fox News host Tucker Carlson called U.S. National Park Service acting director David Vela a “moron” who should “resign or be fired” for interjecting race into a discussion about who visits the parks.

“At a time like this, a time of crisis, so many Americans are finding refuge in nature,” Carlson said during Thursday night’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “In nature, there are no political parties. There are no political debates. There are no divisions, There is no race or racism. There’s just God’s creation. It’s a respite from all the bad things, but not anymore. The national parks, “ABC News” is now telling us, are in fact racist.”

Sounds like David Vela struck a nerve with ol' Tucker.

I wonder if Tucker watched the video of the central park birdwatching incident.

Elements of the left are claiming now that America’s national parks are built on systemic racism.

“The outdoors and public lands suffer from the same systemic racism that the rest of our society does,” Joel Pannell, associate director of the Sierra Club, said in an ABC report, titled “America’s Great White Outdoors.”

A report called the parks “stubborn bastions of self-segregation.”
New government data, shared first with ABC News, shows the country’s premier outdoor spaces — the 419 national parks — remain overwhelmingly white. Just 23 percent of visitors to the parks were people of color, the National Park Service found in its most recent 10-year survey; 77 percent were white. Minorities make up 42 percent of the U.S. population.

Could it be because the National Park Service is racist and doesn't advertise to minorities?

And thank God for it! Otherwise, every park would need it's own police force to control the "animals," & I don't mean bears & wolves!

Dunno about racism, but trees don't like dogs that pee on them.

According to this web site, which encourages black people to take up camping and outdoor activities, they feel vulnerable in remote locations. It makes sense when you think about it. You guys remember the black couple in Alabama who mistakenly went to a private campground adjacent to a state park and had the old white lady brandish her shooting iron, yes?

Great example of how implicit bias works. Teachable moment here. Kudos to Ray!

Here's the story. Sounds like an Honest Mistake While Black.

It was the "git! git!" like they were a couple of dogs that bothered the wife. Looks like a nice couple.

White people wonder why African Americans think twice about going alone into unfamiliar countryside, like national parks. It's because they feel vulnerable. It only takes the wrong one.
