For better or worse, Trump deliberately puts himself at the center of every story on the logic that any press is good press. I agree with you that it is wise to not chase every bit of chaff that he throws off (and boy does he throw off a lot). But he is the President and his job performance does matter. Critical takes on him are entirely fair, so long as they are reasoned. Positive stories of his job performance are also fair game, if anyone can find one to share.
