DeSean Jackson, a moron who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles...

...posts a vicious antisemitic message with quotes from Hitler and Louis Farrakhan. He also claims that the Negros are really the Children Chosen By God, and other crap of a similar nature.

But the most amazing thing is that none of the coaches or the Jewish owner of the team have done anything at all about this.

    Check it out:

DeSean Jackson and the Philadelphia Eagles addressed the anti-Semitic social media posts the wide receiver made over the weekend, which sparked controversy.

The link is mostly about his apology. Did Sid even read it?

Jackson acting pretty forthright that he effed up. I respect that in a person. People who refuse to apologize are the ones who are real trouble.

Another apology under pressure. Do you think he didn't mean what he said at first?

Since when should people have to apologize for exercising their First Amendment rights ? When did this "Right not to be offended" become part of the Consiution ?

Do apologies ever flow from praise? Blowback and clarification, sometimes with apology, are normal features of discourse.

With respect, the COTUS protects our right to speak politically. We are not protected from consequences when we speak in common discussions, etc. For instance, there are many folks who must of necessity use care with what they say publicly if they wish to continue in their place of employment or if they wish to continue in their chosen career. Examples are replete of individuals ranging from servers in restaurants right on up to CEO's who have found to their shock that statements they have made on electronic media have resulted in their loosing their positions, etc. The COTUS does not guarantees us the right to not be offended, but it does not protect a speaker/writer from the consequences of offending. Sincerely. bruce.

Where does it say that in the Constitution?

Wait what? You're challenging Bruce's assertion that the Constitution doesn't shield people from owning the consequences of their speech? Good luck with that, LOL.

just curious why I should give a hoot about some football players thought,

they are paid (overpaid, IMO) to play a game,

if I watched football, I might care about how he plays, but surely would not (and do not) care how he votes or his thoughts on it,

One thing they learn in the Combloc was that getting people to censor themselves was a lot more effective than having massive state bureaucracies do it.

GOP has adopted the same practice. People say all kinds of stuff about Trump, but anonymously.

Well, they have to, because they're like, icky and bad. I mean, they didn't actually do it, but I think they would, so they're guilty, right?

ESPN, another left wing entity, called Jackson's comments "controversial.' As a result they have received a torrent of emails denouncing them and their hero DeSean Jackson. Today, Julian Edelman volunteered to take Jackson to the Holocaust Memorial and teach him some history.

It's in all the books slagging Trump, anonymously, because people are afraid of retribution.

And in the way the GOP buried the impeachment investigation, and in the way people here always make excuses for him.

You know, it's funny. When something really bad comes out about Trump, this place gets extra quiet for 3, 4 days, because people don't know yet what the talking points are. Seen this at least 3 times now since the election. Watch for it again before the election.
