The two worst inventions of all time ...

    at least from the standpoint of human relationships;
The cell phone and it's offspring. No one talks to anyone
else anymore. Everyone sirs around the dining table
staring into their phones. The art of conversation is dead.
The Internet. No matter what words you send into it, they
will offend someone and that someone will threaten to kill
you. Freedom of speech is under threat if not already dead.

You could kill yourself and avoid the suffering*.

    *Our suffering.

I might add the concept of the 24 hour news TV station to your list. These stations have a need to fill airtime and attract viewers. To do both, they tend to blow even the smallest incident into a major event and by doing so, generate stress in society. They also tend to play any event over and over again for days until in the public's mind, it becomes important. There is really no balanced journalism involved although they do hire talking heads to discuss every and any aspect of the situation even if they have no real idea about it.

Plus all the revenue they generate from high priced advertising.

That was a huge bait and switch. I got rid of cable years ago, but I don't think even today cable could possible be as ad saturated as poor peoples t.v.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Six hundred channels, and only a dozen with anything worthwhile on them.

With pay TV, you pay to use it. They have to pay for the programming from who produces it.The more advertising they can squeeze into it, the more money they make. The more money they make, the bigger salaries and bonuses for the CEO's.

I pay for Spectrum Cable--the ONLY cable in this area. This rotten co. (which has become a monopoly by buying out local cable services such as the cheap one I used to have) runs more ads that any other, no doubt because the networks give them special rates.

And the more they screw the subscribers, who pay twice for TV -- once monthly, and once every 5 minutes when the program is interrupted by a half dozen commercials.

I have DirectTV with the DRV "Genie" where I can record and FF through all the endless commercials.

This way I pay for the commercials twice---once with my subscription and then the additional for the "Genie".

W/O the FF feature I was finding that with so many commericals I often forgot what I was watching.

Gotta pay for all those hispanic, reality shows (where they promote their kinfolks), commercial channels like QVC and all those queer channels.

I'm extremely pragmatic. Clearly you would call me disgusting out of your own self-loathing.

You never have anything positive to say, all doom or gloom. Why continue to suffer if it's all so bad?
