People can look at the epidemic of shooting in Chicago and wonder what's wrong with those people & their culture.

People can look at the US and their disinterest in controlling a pandemic that has killed more people than handguns so far this year, and wonder what's wrong with these people & their culture. And whether anyone in the US cares or not, the rest of the world (except maybe Brazil and some Persian Gulf states) do just that.

Meanwhile New Yorkers--that insufferable group--can currently look at the southern US and wonder what is wrong with them and their culture that they fail to control the virus.

This is the problem with throwing stones of cultural criticism when almost everyone has at least one glass room in their house, and some people have glass houses entirely.

Also I notice that there are no threads here of late boasting on the great job Trump is doing with Covid and the economy. It feels like 2012 again, with the daily threads about how the blacks in the cities are taking everything all to hell. For me that's a pretty strong signal that even the base sees the handwriting on the wall.
    words,

lots of them saying not much,

you have already mentioned your favoritism towards more gun control, and willingness for it,

the rest you posted is not relevant to the discussion,

facts are, there is a way to reduce, (but likely never stop) the flow of Illegal firearms into Chicago or any major city,

facts are that the powers that be, have no apparent desire to do so,

culturally, it was changed somewhat here in VA, with out restricting others rights, thru law enforcement doing law enforcement work, and getting some folk in the community involved,

not sure that would work in Chicago, since at that time RVA was not as corrupt as Chicago is,

The majority of murders in the U.S. occur in only a small percentage of counties across the country.

"The Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) said in a new report that there is a “geographical concentration” of murders, with 68 percent of killings occurring in just 5 percent of the nation’s counties. The homicides also tend to be concentrated to relatively small pockets of those counties, the report said."

Clearly there is SOMETHING different in that 5 percent -- and I'm betting it's not the air.

You have to be deaf, blind, or dumb, not to see where the problems are and who are causing it in the country. There are some on this forum that know it, but ignore nor admit it, because they left leaning are else working for the Dem's,
