    Find Something New

    https://findsomethingnew.org/

New White House campaign to inspire the unemployed to switch careers. I wonder if they'll add resources to help oil and gas drillers and coal miners to retool as barbers, hairstylists, mani-pedi specialists. Everyone has hair, nails, that need upkeep. That's sarcasm but the point is, this is a Clintonian view, right? The whole point of MAGA was to bring back the manly jobs, not turn the country into a nation of dog groomers.

My preference as you may well know (had you read my posts) was decisive action up front to knock this thing down so that time wasn't our deadly enemy. Ambivalence or outright denialism towards Covid-19 is what got us here. At no time did I express either of these traits.

Stop the bleeding. Clamp down hard. Then maybe the number of people who have to "find something new" is but a fraction of what it is shaping up to be.

          Ah yes.. manly jobs.

" I'm going to bring back millions of jobs to the United States " said the man

" Nafta is out... we've negotiated a new deal " said the man

My newly installed central air conditioning system is labeled in very large letters that it was designed in the United States...

... but in tiny letters it mentions the fact that it was manufactured in Mexico... only two months ago

On the upside for those who have complained about Mexicans coming here..... every Mexican that built my AC in Mexico did it in... Mexico.

Trumps new " Nafta Deal" forces American companies manufacturing in Mexico to pay a substantially higher wage in order to encourage manufacturing to come back here.....

But reality is.... double, or triple a Mexicans wage to $11.00 an hour to build my AC in Mexico and that US company is still making out.... meaning I still pay more for everything I buy

plus that US company working in Mexico has a crew that shows up on time five days a week..... but at least they ain't showing up on time here... right ?

People want to and need to work. Fill in the blanks.
-On the upside for those who have complained about Mexicans coming here..... every Mexican that built my AC in Mexico did it in... Mexico.-

Right on the border. The border is porous. All those traffic jams you see at Nogales are folks going to their job in the U.S. It goes on daily. It's just their good nature that they don't just up and leave Mex. Well...

"States rights" is not a doctrine whereby the country is doomed to fecklessness in the face of a national threat. Couldn't your local school district afford post-1865 editions of civics textbooks?

Added: to the OP, however we got here,

"Find Something New" is the kind of campaign slogan that might boomerang back on the incumbent.

"I wonder if they'll add resources to help oil and gas drillers and coal miners to retool as barbers, hairstylists," Won't have to if Trump is re-elected.... the jobs in the gas, coal, and oil sectors will still be there. Not so if Sleepy Joe and his energy Czar AOC get what they have said thy want to do.

There's actually more jobs in renewable energy than there are in oil & gas.

so you want the white house or congress to avoid the governors of the states and take over?

doesnt matter what the President says, (or who the President is)

the states will do what they think best, by the governing party in that state or the gov, or both,

look at Coumo,,,, think he would ever listen to Trump?

                    wake up,, look around,

You misrepresented someone's argument to make it easier to attack.

Imagine if we had fought WW2 with your mindset.

Each level of government has certain powers, some clearly delineated in the Constitution, some not. If we had real leadership in the White House there would be a national strategy for a national epidemic. And for awhile there were the TV specials. But after the "bleach injections" episode the star lost interest in the project and moved on.

Had you told me Trump was going to ace his Covid-19 test and cruise to re-election and it turned out that way, I would have thought that was a good deal. But clearly we get the other outcome. I'll look for the silver lining.

You're making this way too hard.

Understandable because the Federal Government has FUBAR'd its response.

Look at the countries with federal systems, where leaders lead rationally, based on wisdom and solid scientific information. Selling a concrete plan to the public, to the regions, getting their voluntary buy-in.

"States Rights" is the BS excuse given by the cult followers to let Trump off the hook for an ambivalent, impulsive, ineffective Covid-19 performance. Look at the news today: Half of the Palace Court wants to throw Fauci to the lions, and half thinks that's a bad idea. Fauci for his part just wants them to grow up and stop playing their own version of Game of Thrones. Many wonder what King Donald will do. No wonder his negatives are through the roof and most of the country just wants him the hell out of power.
