    A letter to the editor

Our local paper published a letter excoriating people for not wearing masks and blaming Trump for everything. I sent a letter of my own in response.

    Dear Editor:

I read with approval the letter entitled "Pandemic Challenging Americans." It had me nodding my head in agreement all the way to the last paragraph.

    But that paragraph!!

"I am no longer open to discussions about individual feelings or opposing views . . . done!"

That took my breath away! A word to the author of that letter -- that kind of arrogance turns people off, and will turn away people you have already persuaded.

I had a newspaper subscription for 25 years and cancelled 15 years ago due to the liberal views they took on. I haven't even read a paper since, have no bird cages to line, don't need the paper to use in auto painting masking, I use a tarp when painting inside, have no puppies to "house break", so I have no need in a newspaper.

    I don't support the liberals.

Then you miss things like this. I was tempted to say, "Exercise caution upon departure to avoid being impacted posteriorly by the protuberance on the portal."

The local newspaper has become so desperate due to reduced revenue from cancelled subscriptions/advertisement they have resorted to throwing flyers in everyone's driveway. They get some local cheapo advertising $ this way.

Few, if anyone reads or wants them. Some let them pile up in the drive and bushes.

They give you a phone number on the back to cancel but it is a ghost number, a recording that goes nowhere and the trash continues.

I called the local PD to put a stop to it. They had no trouble getting through to them.

I had the same problem with the Newport News, VA, Daily Pravda. When I finally got through, they told me they would cancel my "subscription" -- as if I subscribed to people throwing trash in my yard.

Though 40 yrs ago, there were many more or less conservative, or at least "middle-of-the-road," major papers, not a single one exists today with the sole exception of the Washington Times. You'd have to search HARD for even for a small town paper that wasn't liberal in orientation. The reason: schools of journalism today are hot-beds of far-left ideology, & whatever the personal beliefs of students may be on entering them, by the time they graduate, they have been molded into lock-step liberals.

Though I can't speak for the whole paper nor their editors the New York Post (not the NYT) seems to run some believable non-biased articles.

I only read articles published on line but they seem to be opposite of the NYT in credibility. I don't subscribe to them though.

The Daily Pravda here in Newport News still does that crap....but the paper makes a good firestarter for the charcoal chimmney when grilling out.

Forgot about that one, which doesn't kiss DeBlasio's wantabe-black ass as the NYT always does.

My Library has all the newspapers. I sometimes read my local rag for local info.
Haven't bought a paper since 1983 . That was the WSJ
