A Virginia state trooper is under investigation for a traffic stop in 2019 during which he can be heard on video telling a Black driver, "You're going to get your a-- whooped," before forcefully removing the man from his car, authorities said Wednesday. As the man refused to exit the vehicle..

Thompson who was the driver was stopped for an expired inspection decal. During the stop, state police said, trooper Hewitt confirmed that Thompson was driving with a suspended driver's license

State police said Thompson "refused to comply with the trooper's repeated requests to exit his vehicle" and after approximately 10 minutes, Trooper Hewitt informed him that he was under arrest.

Thompson refused to exit his vehicle, according to state police. "Thompson was then forcibly removed from the vehicle and taken into custody," they said.

"You can't do that, sir," Thompson says to Hewitt, as the trooper tries to unlock the car door and appears to attempt to prevent Hewitt from unlocking the door.

The officer mentioned his wife is Black so he could not be racist, Thompson told Hewitt "there was no way in hell a Black woman would marry him,

Thompson kept recording the altercation saying things that sounded like he is being abused..

In VA they book people into jail on a suspended license? I can see the pullover for an expired tab. But booking to jail on a suspended license strikes me as a waste of taxpayer money. Just write a ticket which will cost the guy that much more when he goes to get his license back.

Or make him surrender his DL card, making it harder to buy booze.

You're distracting from my point.

I've had a few traffic tickets over the years. Been a long time since a cop asked me to sit in his squad. If they did it was weather or safety related and explained as such.

Still doesn't excuse the "ass whooping" remark.

I've had my share of speeding tickets, and politeness got a couple that would have been reckless changed down to speeding,

hands on the wheel, admit to speeding, be polite, provide proper docs,
and most importantly, do as told,

back on the road in 10 minutes,
