    Clearly mentally ill.

I've lost brake lines on the road to rust. It complicates driving.

You know if he was caught cutting the brake lines of the vehicle of a local pusher....anyway it's public property which can be paid for by "soaking the rich".

A few years back, headed with my youngest to Wyoming, for some backcountry hiking. He had just turned 16, had to pass his exam on the first try or he'd throw off the trip timetable!

He had been driving, we pull into Chadron, NE, at noon on a Saturday. I tell him to pull into a gas station so we can fill up. It's busy and he's new at it so he's hesitating. I ask him, "want me to do it?" He says yes so I swap seats. I put my foot down to shift out of park and the pedal goes all the way to the floor on that Dakota. In Chadron the parts stores close at noon on Saturdays. So we limped down to Ft. Robinson state park until Monday 8 AM, when a guy at a Chadron tire shop assembled enough parts from what was on local shelves to get us down the road. Still think it was remarkable that the brake line held until I got behind the wheel. Kind of thing that makes someone think about Guardian Angels.

If you ride horses, Ft. Robinson looks to be a great park. Old cavalry post.

And probably give him another bolt cutter to replace the one the police confiscated.

+1 on the low gears. There is a trick if you have solid line, which is to crimp it and fold it over. Some wheels won't brake but at least the system will not go dry. On this Dakota the lines were bad from the distribution block all of the way back.

Tried to plug the line, didn't work like on older cars. I figured something to do with all the lines from anti lock system.

Most important thing a car/truck ever does is stop. W/o brakes, things really do get fun ... in a hurry. Back in school, my money was tight. Was crossing the Mississippi river on the Huey P. Long. Coming down from the top, my brakes were gone. Leak. Bummer. Used the floor brake and transmission to slow things up. Got to a parts store that was still open that time of night. Got some break fluid ... filled everything back up and drove on to the hospital. Had enough money to buy some fried oysters for supper! Ah the joys of living large when I was young and thought nothing could hurt me! Sincerely. bruce.
