    Chicago mayor vows to take down Columbus statue

    Chicago will remove the controversial Christopher Columbus statue from Grant Park, say sources

    Thousands of Black Lives Matter demonstrators took to the streets to march on Mayor Lori Lightfoot's house as night fell, demanding she defund the Chicago Police Department and turf federal agents out of the city, as tensions over racism and police brutality continue to mount.

    Chants turned from 'f*** CPD' (Chicago PD), to cheers of elation when someone announced over the microphone that the city is planning to take the controversial Columbus monuments down from Grant Park and Little Italy.\

    More than 2,000 gathered outside Mayor Lori Lightfoot's house in Logan Square Thursday night

    The move was met with outrage from the Italian-American community who felt 'betrayed' by the mayor

    Chicago is gearing up for federal agents after President Trump threatened to send in hundreds of troops
    Trump warned Thursday night he will 'go into all of the cities' and could send in up to 60,000 federal troops

    Agents were also sent in to Seattle Thursday night, despite local officials saying they didn't want them there

    In Portland, protesters and feds faced off another night, as a judge banned agents from arresting journalists
