Britain gave Africa roads, railroads, order and prosperity ...

then they gave them independence - and that's when the sh!t hit the fan.
Greedy power hungry Blacks finagled their way to the leadership and stole
everything for themselves. Socialism was the way to get rich just as it's
always been for those who were able to strong-arm their way to the top.

And that's what togor and his looter friends would like to give us.

The British put these things in Africa to facilitate the extraction of wealth to benefit the mother country. You want to talk looting, the people in the former dominions will bend your ear.

Britain is a shadow of itself at the height of empire, proof of the magnitude of wealth they took out of their colonies. That's wealth those people did not have to develop their own lands.

Post-independence, weak governments were put in to facilitate the continued wealth extraction to the former colonial masters.

The United States had the good fortune to be left largely alone by European countries as they found their footing in the decades after independence, aided by the limits of early 19th technology.

"Develop their own lands"? PREPOSTEROUS! What had they been waiting for the BEFORE the Europeans arrived? They'd still be living in the Stone Age, without European intervention. To this day, their major infrastructure--roads, bridges, railroads--were put there at enormous cost by the colonial "exploiters."

Who (except suck-ass black-failure apologists like Togor) says "weak gov'ts" were put there by the Colonial powers? The Brits simply washed their hands of the whole rotten mess, allowing "the natives" to take over, with predictable results. They did the same thing in Israel, with the BIG difference being that the Jews were capable, competent, energetic, & quickly made their patch of desert the most advanced country in the area; no oil, little arable land, no natural resources at all, except the most important of all--racial & cultural superiority.

Again, the empires arranged these societies to maximize exploitation of resources. Big surprise then that the structures they set up, including divide-and-rule tactics, go to hell when they leave. And then there are the wars fought over the arbitrary border lines drawn in S and SW Asia by the British. It's true that the Europeans had material advantages on which they built their empires. But moral superiority....that question was settled in 1914-1918 when the butchered each other in droves. Genetic superiority? When Euros want to win a championship or Olympic medal, they produce the naturalization papers very quickly.

You listen to a lot of Roger Whitaker by any chance?

Do the French still own Louisiana? Or Spanish California?

We were colonies under British rule for roughly 170 years (1607 to 1776.) The British ruled Africa for about the same amount of time -- and look at the difference.

Euros brought diseases (both Eurasian and African) to the Americas, decimating the native populations, and giving the invaders an additional advantage. In the warmer latitudes, those diseases thrived such that the Africans had a natural advantage to them. In Africa, especially in the tropics, it was the Europeans who died in droves. It's no accident that the only large settlement of Europeans in sub-Saharan Africa for a very long time was at the higher latitudes of the southern tip of the continent.
