[QUOTE=togor;591167]........The country can handle some protests. It has been through worse.

Tell me when it has been worse in the country then the current tearing down statutes, riots, looting, police protesting, burning down stores, number of murder in cities, for months....huh! I'm waiting!

In your lifetime, in the 1960's. A little thing called the Vietnam war, remember?

Before you were born, some labor movement protests/riots were much more bloody than anything we've seen so far. If you are going to claim that the summer of 2000 is by far the worst ever in the history of the country, then you are going to have to bring some comparisons. Just saying it because you want it to be so is the sort of wooly-minded thinking that got us into this situation.

Those problems were later in the 60's into the 70's. The biggest problems were in about 1965. The riots in LA, Detroit, Baltimore just to name a few were worst then today. LA was on fire. Detroit was half burned to the ground it seemed. National Guard troops were sent in with orders that is someone shot at you then you take them out with return fire. Ma Duce spoke and things suddenly went from bad to much better. Once these people realize its not a game it changes things when they are given a plot of land 6x6.

Gee that's right the 1960's but that's over 60 yrs ago. including Vietnam.. and I remember when Martin Luther King was killed also, there was a lot of burning, looting, rioting at all the those time also. Anyone remember who was doing it at the time..yes..same type of losers, both white and black..but losers all and not any benefit to this country..just destroyers as now..As that is what most of the unlawful protesters mostly are...In this country and in this day and age, there are lawful means and ways to address situations people disagree with or laws they want changed. Not what these people are doing and sorry, there is no way you can justify them..

Okay Ray a couple of things:

            1. You asked when there was a time that was worse than Summer 2020 and I believe that has now been answered to everybody's satisfaction.

            2. We know there are protests, and we know there is stuff on the margins that is not peaceful protest. Where we disagree is apparently you see that stuff on the margins as most if not all of the show, such that there are no meaningful subjects out there for people to protest. I see that stuff as on the margins, to a degree that is not clear, but given that we're not reading about morgues or ERs being filled to the lid every night, I'm saying that the protests are managing to stay peaceful, if raucous. As for the stuff on the margins, while concerning, it has not taken over. Unlike you I would like to see that stuff stop ASAP. I say "unlike you" because I think you like reading about it because you think it will help the Trump campaign by giving "surburban moms" the "willies".

              You keep bring up

Yes, I do keep bringing it up to demonstrate how these people are destroying our country..And if you can't see it. or if you agree with what they are doing, or just plain ignoring it because of politics.. then you are part of the problem. For the sake of our country.. and no matter what OUR politics are. it needs to stop...And any grievances or proposes handled in a lawful and proper way.

It will stop....these things run their course. My guess is you just want the protests to go away, with nothing changing. That's a different outcome you're after.

The Portland protests are not protests. They are riots and should be dealt with accordingly!
