From the Life Isn't Fair Files

On March 26, 2017 3 teenage punks invaded a home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the instigation of a 21 year old mother of 3, the girlfriend of one of them. A latter day Ma Barker ? She needed "rent money". They awoke the son of the owner, who grabbed his AR-15 and.....a news story quotes the grandfather of one of the (deceased) assailants as saying 'It wasn't fair-an AR-15 versus a brass knuckles."

I remember when this happened several years ago. The home owners 19 year old son was pretty traumatized after the incident as he left a trail of dead bodies. I guess they had to call the dead wagon instead of an ambulance.

Jeff Cooper scoffed at PTSD, I'm sure Charlie Askins did too. In my liberal town a cop dispatched a gunman in a bank robbery/hostage situation a few years ago, doubt if he was troubled by it, no protests or denunciations in the media.
"Ma Barker" is residing in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, she was charged with 3 counts of Murder One, they let her plead to Murder Two.

In his classic book, With the Old Breed on Peleliu and Okinawa, EB Sledge said he thought PTSD depends on the duration, not the intensity of the combat. I tend to agree.

Jeff Cooper said if remorse was to be shown it was an administrative matter. There is a difference between PTSD and combat fatigue IMHO, the latter due mostly to sleep deprivation. A lot depends on the individual and his military culture.
Guy Gibson of the Dam Busters came to the US on a tour, in the USAAF a crew, an individual rotated after 25 missions.
Some asked Gibson how many times he had been over Germany, without missing a beat he replied "175".

On the other hand, Ira Hays, who raised the flag on Iwo Jima, definitely suffered from PTSD.

PTSD was common among people who crossed the plains by covered wagon, too, and there are plenty of accounts of people suffering from it. Eight year old Nancy Graves, who was a member of the Donner Party suffered terribly.
