Trump Comes Clean On The Post Office

He wants to see it go under so that absentee balloting in a pandemic doesn't work.

“Now, they need that money in order to make the post office work, so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots,” Trump said in an interview with Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo. He added: “Now, if we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting, they just can’t have it.”
Nice, huh? I hope none of you guys are getting pills through the mail. Except maybe the ones who are also cheering this. I wouldn't bother me if your pills are getting hung up.

And of course there are the ones who vote by mail anyways who are cheering this.

He doesn't want to see fraudulent mail in ballots. Something ONLY the democrats are pushing (wonder why?).

What did obama do for the PO? Seems to me that's when they declined the most.

2006 was the year that Congress put an onerous pre-funding requirement on the Post Office pension program. It's an artificial problem created by the government itself.

This guy put a bill in to cut the PO some slack.

As for mail-in ballots, it's the silver hairs that stand to lose the most by Trump taking the hard line. Trump has also admitted several times now that it is turnout, not fraud, that concerns him. Higher turnout in his opinion means election losses for Republicans, who fear the voters. So....fraud, schmaud.

You hate the Post Office now, Ray. For the same reason that you hate the environment, and Western Europe, but love Putin and North Korea. Because you don't read the fine print on the candidate. Always read the fine print.

I'm not a politician just a person with some common sense and a knowledge of history. I'm very concerned about mail in voting as talked about. Look how many dead people vote around the country, look at how many more votes have been cast in certain cities then registered voters, look at how many people have been busted for padding the registration rolls and all of this has been done by mail. If you want to vote, show Id and stand in line. I also support defunding the Post Office.

I thought Mail Fraud was already a crime?

                  The gun violence argument.

Without numbers your post is meaningless. Actually fraud on a wholesale level, centrally directed, is impossible. The ballots are dispersed and run at local polling stations.

The far more likely scenario is that people fill out the ballots or accompanying documentation wrong and their votes don't get counted. That probably hits older voters, immigrants, and low education level voters evenly. 2/3 of those groups make up a healthy portion of the base.

In any case Trump has given people the fraud script to parrot (except in Florida somehow) so that's the one being repeated.

Voter fraud is a crime too but how many get prosecuted?

Virtually none -- after all, how do you think the prosecutors got elected?

An internal US Postal Service document obtained by NBC News reveals plans to remove 671 high-volume mail processing machines from postal facilities across the country. The document, circulated in June, is broken out by region and city/state. NBC News’ Geoff Bennett joins to break down his latest.

What is the reason? Dirty Dirty Dirty.

The Post Office is very popular with: seniors, veterans, rural folks. Does that sound like Trump or Biden voters? Trump gave the Democrats a "your way of life is being threatened by Trump's abuse of power" opening that they can take to those people. For House Democrats up for re-election in districts that Trump carried, this issue is a gift.
