60 Percent of Police Drones Are Chinese Made and could be used for spying

A Report warns that data from U.S. drones could end up in Beijing's hands. "The data those drones collect while flying over metropolitan areas would hold the precise location of critical infrastructure and sensitive information, such as the locations of civic leaders, their movements, and interactions,"

Chinese manufacturers produced more than three in five drones used by local and state law enforcement, potentially exposing sensitive geographic and personal data to the Chinese government.

Chinese tech companies have sold or gifted drones to more than 970 law enforcement and first responder agencies across the country, presenting a massive national security risk

I have a DJI drone. They're amazing pieces of engineering. But as far as intel value goes, I'm sure the Chinese collect more data with their satellites.

So you're saying any data it collects is not needed/worthless to the Chinese! Is that what you're implying?

To activate the drone you have to go to their web site. Then there is post sale interaction with the mother ship because there are no fly zones set up by the US government. When you fly, a mobile device such as a phone or tablet is the primary display interface. Some telemetry may leak back to the mother ship but if they are harvesting images, no one has spotted that traffic yet. And they would. People study drones for security flaws, and there's no way to hide the bandwidth if image or video data is leaking back. It's China, so caveat emptor, but it's hardly a given that these things are flying spywear. Way more hype than substance in that claim. This from someone who actually owns and operates a Chinese drone.
