That's an insane bet if you ask me, for reasons I have already explained. CH clearly takes a pre-Christian approach to things, and Vernon is a Roman Catholic. But both rely on Evangelicals to do heavy lifting when it comes to making Trump somehow appear morally acceptable to the public, which is necessary for political reasons.

He has broken a few of the rules to be sure. If the President, Faculty, Board, etc. are to be exempted from these rules, maybe there should be a PDF for that too.

By ordinary standards, none of the stuff Jr. did was close to criminal. Nothing wrong with kicking back with a cocktail, or harmless flirting. The pool boy thing is a little edgy but hey, consenting adults, right?

But his employer, Liberty U., has a business model that is about doing right by God by adhering to a strict moral code. No one expects him to be perfect but at the same time that belief system does not like it when people who ought to know better--especially leaders--decide to flip God off. They weren't an ordinary couple of perverts--thousands of followers BELIEVED in them as role models of decency & morality. Not that they betrayed their followers any worse than then Great Demagogue did--but the Falwells should have known they wouldn't be able to claim black-privilege to excuse their behavior.

I have read that Falwell, Jr's severance package is taking effect because he hasn't been formally charged. In years gone by there were "morals" clauses in Hollywood contracts, an actor who violated his saw his contract voided and his career ended.
IIRC only Utah strips public employees and officer holders of their pensions and emoluments upon conviction ,the other states and the federal government don't.
