The Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit organization with a focus on global conflict, collected data over the summer supported by Princeton University. As the Federalist’s Joy Pullman reported, ACLED found that of the hundreds of riots that occurred this year, 95 percent were found to have perpetrators that that had an affiliation with Black Lives Matter:

Of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter activists. Data for 51 incidents lack information about the perpetrators’ identities.

In terms of burned buildings, no comparison. Insurance losses, disrupted lives, etc. Obviously how some people FEEL about them is clearly different. And their meaning to society is different. But it's a big country, big enough that any horrible thing imaginable might be happening somewhere. So the amount of a thing matters.

Another comparison likely to irritate: we've had over 50 9/11's worth of Covid deaths, and the numbers keep going up.

meanwhile a wildfire is either an act of nature/God or caused by humans, (usually doing something they shouldn't)

When the damage of wildfire dwarfs riots in a comparison, it's an act of God.

But by itself, it's blamed on California bureaucrats who refused trimming, fuel removal.

BTW, a lot of Federal acres going up.

Riots aren't good, but they are overplayed by reactionaries who reject the reasons for any protests in the first place. And the wildfires are an annoying reminder of that.

BTW, those "act of God" wildfires are more often than not human set. Gender reveal gone awry, drifter arsonist, careless grill, etc.
