It's happening. The police, for obvious reasons, are becoming "combat ineffective" in a lot of cities and is going to become that way in more. In this case, the Minneapolis City Council is amazed that after hamstringing the police when it comes to staffing and financing and actually voting for their abolition the cops seem more interested in self preservation than enforcing the law. A cop in Minneapolis (and a bunch of other cities) knows that any use of force incident, especially one that escalates to the point of using a firearm could well cost him his career and force said "law dog" to defend himself/herself in court. Add to that the de-humanization of the police by the Trotskyites in the streets today which has been directly responsible for ambushes of the police, including one in Los Angeles County which ended with "protesters" blocking the entrances to the emergency room they were taken and shouting "We hope they die." Right now they're doing the absolute minimum in places like Seattle and New York.

The cop bashers are getting their wish in a lot of places. Police Chiefs are resigning en mass, cops who can get out without taking a huge financial hit are and a bunch who can move are. Cop suicides, always high are way up. Cop bashers you're getting your wish.

Cops are and will back off letting the actor have their way. Why should a white cop put self/family in harms way? Those close to pulling the pin should just slow down and watch when possible. When "we" took over the S.O. from a Democratic administration not one of our cruisers were safe to put on the road and the Democrats who held the purse strings wouldn't fund repairs/new vehicles. The shotguns for the cruisers had also disappeared! My Sheriff directed ALL CALLS to the Democratic held office. Within a day we were funded for repairs/replacements and we still couldn't respond until repairs were made...calls continued to be sent to their office.

It doesn't have to be a white cop. A lot of the cops who have been taken to the woodshed are black including all of the cops in the "Freddy Gray Case" in Baltimore. They were all charged with felonies including murder on informations issued after a couple of days. No Grand Jury, no investigation. All were acquitted or had charges dismissed. If you were a cop in Baltimore the message had been sent, and since its been sent in a lot of other places.

Of the six officers tried in the Freddy Gray case, three were white and three were black The States Attorney (Marilyn Mosby) brought felony charges such that all six cops could not be paid for over a year (until cases were resolved). She was given a set up in that the judge, Barry Williams, had prosecuted many police brutality cases. She did a miserable job and was more interested in running for re-election and posing for Vogue magazine. He took Mosby to the wood shed by the way.
Freddy was known drug dealer with a nice rap sheet (Maryland Judiciary Search) by the way and was pursued legally in a known crime area (Supreme Court, 1992).

$193M is the budget for the MPD. If they've stopped providing $193M worth of value to the taxpayers, then they will only invite more negative attention onto themselves. Nobody said policing was easy, or life was fair.

What Qoumo tried as a rookie(policing, nonetheless). He got clobbered for that and was forced to drink quarts of kool-aid. I think he always must have had a hankerin for it bein that he was from Uptate(hee, haw). Still, that is sort of the idea. An idea passed down over the many millenia.
Cops have to be cold. They can have a good time but when on duty; it's cold. Just for those few intense times that I'm sure like any other job seem to get longer. If you have a temper what is the official length? defund the Cops. Well, I never..

I know of a women who is kind of a freaky tempermental kind of a person. She can be violent. She drinks. She had a short lived span at the clinic. She lost a job for just such behavior("Merry Christmas, I hope you die"). Now, when vagrants barge into a hospital someone in charge should have gotten out a big hypodermic needle. Not really. Some big nurse could probably flip them like pancakes. No one with any brains would do such a thing. These are kids(if over 23, keep and eye on them), but again, you have to let them know who's boss. You don't do this.

You're expecting a lot from a group the city council voted to put out of work by a veto proof majority because they are all irredeemable racist thugs.

The Minneapolis City Council's committee for a police department replacement agency was supposed to have a plan for the new "Department of Community Safety and Violence Prevention"....whatever that will look like....finished by the end of August and have it ready to vote on by November but found the task too daunting to complete by that time. They're still plugging away on it though.

In theory the Minneapolis cops are going to be pretty much all unemployed next year. i doubt any of them want to be the last casualty in a war that's already lost.

My bet is, since the chickens are coming home to roost, that after all is said and done, the MPD will be "reformed" and maybe renamed but not abolished. Even George Floyd's mother thinks the city's proposed plan is a bad idea.
