Florida law allows a felon who has paid his/her "debt to the state" to reclaim their right to vote. This means serve any jail time, pay any fines or restitution and complete any community service. For the record I not only approve of the law, but believe in the case of non violent felons (fraud, ect.) all civil right should be restored including 2nd Amendment rights. Well, old Michael Bloomberg is paying the fines and/or restitution for 32,000 black and latino felons (no white "good old boys" need apply) because, he says, they "vote 95% Democrat." This affects enough voters to possibly swing the election.

The problem is this is probably a crime in Florida, in fact it looks a lot like a felony under Section 104.2 of the Florida legal code. Not only that the folks receiving this benefit are also guilty of a felony under Section 104.045 of the Florida Penal Code. The recipients of Bloomberg's largess have also received a taxable gift, two facts I'm sure they're blissfully ignorant of.

The amazing thing isn't that Bloomberg is vote buying, its that he publicly admits he's vote buying and The Hill and other outlets report on this like its no big deal.

The government is getting its money, money in fact that it would likely NOT receive in this case except for the law, right? That would seem a win-win, right? Fines are paid, and voting is restored, putting money in local government coffers and giving that individual yet one more reason to stay on the lawful path going forward.

What's not to love?

Oh yeah, the fact that they might not vote Republican, meaning that the only reason for the law was to find a way to keep those people off the voter rolls.

Read a piece where a lot of convicts like the Fox News Weltanschauung because it's what the guards put on the TV screens. When they get out, especially the aryans, they're ready to beat the snot out of anyone who doesn't stand for the pledge.

Look, the Florida GOP tried to suppress the ex-felon vote, to their political advantage, by passing a regulation. What do we know about Government regulations? People will look for ways to get around them if it is in their interest to do so. There's nothing stopping the Mercer family from settling up a foundation to help aryan gang members out from prison to get their voting rights back.

I believe that is one of the requirements they have to consent to before having their fines paid for.

During obama's "election", at a local retardation center which is made up of mostly blacks with near 100% black personel, the participants were shown where to mark the "X" for obama and any other liberals running for office.

The point is made. The GOP set up a new game to keep people from voting and the Democrats are trying to work through it. If studies show that the Florida law has the practical effect of hurting the GOP they'll change it.

If Covid cases spike in key states coming into the election, such that there is a late move towards mail-in voting by Trump supporters, the GOP lawyers may suddenly find themselves arguing for more time for ballot arrival and counting. Right now the plan is to try to stop ballot counting immediately upon poll closing if Republicans are ahead.
