Homeless black man, shot dead by cops after stopped for 'jaywalking

Here we go again....Why don't they just obey the initial police commands...Seems like most of the shooting happens because they don't obey it

Homeless black man, 42, shot dead by cops after being stopped for 'jaywalking' in San Clemente is a father-of-two and former bodybuilder who fell on hard times as
Kurt Reinhold, 42, was killed during a struggle with two Orange County Sheriff's Department deputies in San Clemente on Wednesday

Witnesses said that authorities stopped Reinhold for 'jaywalking'

Sheriff Don Barnes released a photo he said showed an unarmed Reinhold attempting to reach for a deputy's gun

Police said Reinhold was homeless and had moved to the Southern California town from nearby Los Angeles in the past month

His death has already sparked protests in the area, with three people arrested for disorderly conduct and one for vandalism and came same day a grand jury brought no charges against Louisville police for the death of Breonna Taylor in Kentuck

I wonder what the cops' plan was, before it all went south. Give him a ticket? Run him for outstanding warrants? Clearly they weren't ready for a guy with mental problems. They were supposed to be in control of the situation, but it got away on them and now he's dead and any chance he had of straightening out his life is gone. When a homeless guy so easily f*cks up your plan, you clearly need a better plan. But it's almost as if his life didn't matter to the police. The department will close the books on this one without so much as a shrug. Great illustration Ray, thanks for posting.

Just one less problem maker. The fool had enough capacity he wasn't jumping in front of moving cars or doing something else that would guaranty a sure death or disablement but he wanted to joint the ranks of the toegy fools and he got what he had coming. Good riddance.

Clearly they're not shrinks. They're city bureaucrats with guns and lethal force authorization. Or blue knights in shining armor. Or a mix of both. Hey you're the one that brought it up.

I think cops are necessary to sustain our civilization. It's completely false for you to claim that I hate them, just because I am willing to take a critical view at times of their performance on the job. Because policing is such a vital function to keep our civilization working, we ought to expect them to handle criticism no different than pilots or doctors, other jobs which while important, are probably not as necessary to civilization itself as good policing.

These days, when things seem completely out of control, leave it to plain-speaking Charles Barkley to bring a much-needed dose of reality.

Charles Barkley always puts things bluntly.

Lol... That's all you do is post numerous events about cops acting bad...any time some thing like that happens were the cop might be at fault, you make sure you post it.. I'm not criticizing you for it but just reminding you of it so but don't tell me you have nothing against cops...

So taking a critical view of something implies hatred?

The funny thing....the thought process you attribute to me (incorrectly) is the mindset police themselves say they develop over time in their dealings with the public. The accumulation of experience breeds a negative view of the public.

But in my case, the question is fair: what might these cops have done better in this encounter?
