That is a very interesting post to me Clinton as I came to the U.S. at 6 years old having been born overseas in The United States Air Force .

it seems very important to all Americans that new citizens accept and adopt everything America ...and so they should . But so should they be encouraged to do so.

As a kid I had many a tussle due to the non acceptance and ridicule of my foreign accent .

Just a bit over a decade later when I finished U.S. Navy boot I was informed my requested {and promised} MOS could not be granted as I was considered a security risk having been born outside CONUS.

I thought I was an American... but even on entry to the United States Armed Forces...there was this ...thing.

At the time I was denied my requested MOS I had worked hard to acquire my American accent .... but Henry Kissinger still sounded like a Kraut .
