I don't trust anti-social types forming private militias with some kind of anti-government agenda. I thought that was patently obvious?

and your TDS is overflowing into the street,

the faux outrage over woke ideas,

and you do as RED always said,, twist,, turn,

          etc

          etc,

so yes, some of us have a hard time believing what you say

            Here's the thing:

Do you consider yourself, or many/most of the forum members here "mainstream" in their sensibilities?

            No, you do not.

Consequently, anyone who does express any mainstream sentiments on any subject is automatically far left. Same for many news sites.

It is a known fact that depth perception diminishes with age.

I'm mainstream on many things, more liberal than you on some things, and more conservative than you on others.

For example, where I came from, your reliance on groupthink ("us/you") marks you as a member of the unthinking mob, demanding conformity.

anything but, been a non conformist all my life,

you expect conformity, and bristle when it does not happen, at least your way, just like a good little demoncrat,

remember, those that lean right generally don't get all upset over differences in opinion, while if you lean left, you best toe the line and march in step, or you are a (insert 'ist' or 'phobe' here)

I think everyone on this forum are from varied backgrounds and experiences, and while on some things all may agree, they will never agree on all,

you want to push everyone to think your way, or you get condescending or insulting, until you are proven wrong, then you get all gaslighted strawduded, or change the subject,,

but we have had this convo before, so put your paintbrush away and realize there are times you may just need to STFU

back to the OP,, our illustrious Lord Northam has declared that similar threats were made towards him, and it is all Trumps fault,,

never mind the fact that a large part of the population in VA thinks he is an idiot, and nevermind the fact that he has been pandering to cover up his blackface/KKK past, or that supposedly he was told to not think about retiring to the Eastern Shore where he is from,,

one more year and hopefully someone with some sense will be elected,

Ah...the classic conservative. He'd be called deep state today. He wasn't impressed with the current resident in residence.

Not seeing the non-conformity Lyman, although you may not be choosing to put it on display. Maybe you have a secret ONJ record collection (don't really want to know).

Certainly the personal attacks and calls to STFU are textbook tribal enforcement techniques.

As for Buckley....he was erudite, could expound at depth his reasons for a position, and more importantly saw virtue in that process. Conservatism rooted in reason. Powerful stuff! Alas we do not see so much of that anymore, as the movement is reaching the end of a cycle. It's belief-based now. One has to believe certain things, never mind how one came to believe them or if one cannot explain why one believes them.

"Look for the narcissist. The most obvious target in today’s lineup is, of course, Donald Trump. When he looks at a glass, he is mesmerized by its reflection. If Donald Trump were shaped a little differently, he would compete for Miss America. But whatever the depths of self-enchantment, the demagogue has to say something. So what does Trump say? That he is a successful businessman and that that is what America needs in the Oval Office. There is some plausibility in this, though not much. The greatest deeds of American Presidents — midwifing the new republic; freeing the slaves; harnessing the energies and vision needed to win the Cold War — had little to do with a bottom line." -William F. Buckley

In some ways a fitting marker for the intellectual death of the conservative party, that it has given itself over entirely to an opportunist, a former Democrat who looked at the GOP and saw the chance of a lifetime. A party now made in his image, believing in him and him alone.

I could ask "get what?" but you are incapable of exposition. That is painfully clear at this point.

When someone says "you don't see it" but is unwilling/unable to themselves explain whatever it is that is supposedly not being seen, the only thing proven is that THEY don't see it.

In other words, it's a dodge and rightly seen as such.

if someone has to explain everything to someone that knows it all, then what is the point???
