Shot a double header C&R match this morning. Using the M1 in competition is a depreciable skill. It sure was more accurate when I shot it in March.

As I stated in the Mauser forum, took my columbian mauser to the range. shot ok with milsurp but I need to scope it. Rear sight base w/long eye relief. Looking for base & scope. It has already been "sportered".

I've stuck with 4064 ever since I started reloading. I may tap into the IMR 4895 I got from Perry in 2019 and try some lighter bullets. I keep going back to 168's, because they always seem to shoot and my loads are still less than stout.

That's what I usually use -- although I came across a cache of Varget a few years back, and I'm still shooting it. In 5 .30-06s (including a Garand), a .308 (99 Savage) and a Krag.

I have a mixmaster, receiver I got thru the CMP, someone's take off Marlin barrel,
and just a pile of spares for the rest,

we have a gong at 300, and with that gun, and just random HXP,. you can ring it all day long,

I've not tried it on a SR-1 yet, maybe one day

It's hard not to want to tinker, unfortunately I can't be one of those retired guys that gets to go to the range, and try a new load a day. Balance that with the fact that M1's are so damn temperamental and my skills change day to day.

My research seems to indicate 4064 is better for the heavies, and either flavor of 4895 is good for 110-150's. I'm biased to Sierras. Have a few 125's and 150's.

Picked up a couple of the last 500 round boxes of 135SMKs from Powder Valley after Sierra discontinued that popular M1A bullet. I'm afraid to use them up...

You know a real Garand shooter when he grips the forearm with his hand reversed, so the fingers are on the left side.

I'm stubborn. To quote Konrad Powers, "mental focus, not equipment hocus-pocus.". Load your standard loads and shoot your rifle...if there is something wrong it's likely the shooter.

I use a mitt, not a glove, and will reverse the hand in offhand,

it's a bit more steady than gripping,

                              yep,

                              you generally cannot buy points,

save the money on the doo dads and gizmo's and spend it on ammo and range time,,,

I am still amazed folks spend money for a 2 shot clip,,
