Not called yet,
But he made a bold play on the base, determined to drive up turnout by attracting new voters.
In that he succeeded, but apparently he gave something up in the process.
The appeal to minority males is interesting too, probably turned some heads.Comment

Remember when "Charlamagne Tha God" told Biden in effect that he wanted to know what his administration would do for Black folks in light of the lack of progress for Blacks in previous administrations? Biden made the famous if you are thinking about voting for Trump "You ain't Black." Now that's patronizing, Hillary Clinton getting up in front of congregations in Black churches and speaking to them in a kind of verbal blackface is patronizing, there are plenty of other examples. Trump did some concrete things for the Black community including real reforms of the excesses in the Crime Control Act of 1993 which heavily and negatively impacted Blacks which led to the release of thousands of Blacks serving extremely long sentences for what just about everyone would consider minor offenses. These people went back to their communities and some even cut campaign adds for Trump. Then there was the substantial increase in funding for historically Black colleges. The Republicans got more of the Black vote than at any time in the past 60 years. Among Republican presidents post Civil War only Theodore Roosevelt probably had more support among Blacks than Trump. In fact Trump got 8% of the vote from Black women and 18% from black men to come in at 12% overall. The Dems look on this as a potential problem since 15% of the vote going to a Republican would almost guarantee a win.
Latinos are an even bigger problem. Trump got around 35% of the Latino vote nationwide, that included just over 40% in Texas (mostly people of Mexican extraction) and about 45% in Florida (mostly Cuban and northern South American lineage.) If Latinos continue to vote "R" in those numbers the Democrats can write off those two states. Can his success be repeatable, who can say, but the Dems will be working over time to reverse this, for them, extremely dangerous short term trend.Last edited by Art; 11-07-2020, 07:31.Comment

Well now that Fox has called it for Biden,
The GOP is unlikely to embrace true multiculturalism in the next 4 years, meaning there's kind of a cap on how many minorities are gettable, or desirable. It depends on the state, of course. Texans are comfortable with hispanics in a way Ohioans are not.
The kaleidoscope is shifting, and the political group that first guesses correctly how the picture will re-form is in the best position to win.
If the result is both parties competing for more votes, either taking them from the other side or finding new ones, it's for the good.Comment
