    Defund the police....Refund the police!..

Refund the police! Minneapolis authorizes $500k to hire cops from OTHER forces after officers leave in wake of BLM protests and rising crime with more than 500 people shot this year

Can't make their minds up I guess.. but with less police more crime.. Meanwhile, the Minneapolis Police Department is still facing calls for its defunding and abolishment after four of its cops were involved in the death of George Floyd

The Minneapolis city council voted Friday 7 to 6 in favor of approving $496,800 in extra funds for Minneapolis Police Department

The money will be used to bring in 20 to 40 cops from outside forces to help the department tackle the recent crime wave across the city

The city is being rocked by a growing crime wave with shootings and murders at their highest levels in 15 years as Homicides are up almost 50 percent so far this year, while more than 500 people have been shot since the start of 2020

Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said the city is 'bleeding' and Residents say violence in the city is now even worse than it was in the mid-1990s when it earned the nickname 'Murderapolis'

More than 150 cops have quit so far this year, triple the typical number, with several citing post-traumatic stress disorder from protests

There is something very odd about that figure. They are talking about $500K for 20 to 40 police officers. Unless they are planning to hire off duty police from other forces on a part time basis or unless the new money is for advertising, $500K will not even be a starting figure. Twenty years ago when I was involved in funding the police, it cost over $100,000 per year to field a fully equipped and trained police officer.

Mark, I believe that cost only involves hiring officers from the other departments on a part time basis..Not hiring new full time officers..
