Some Cops do deserve to be defunded ...

    Or at least fired.
Cops who arrested the Woman for not wearing a mask when she was alone in a park..
Cops who raid businesses and arrest owners for ignoring Bozo's idiotic curfew.
Cops who arrested Man and his wife for protecting their property.
Cops who blindly follow illegal orders from dictator like Governors and Mayors.
There are good Cops and bad Cops. Unfortunately the profession tends to attract
ex school bully types who enjoy bullying people.

Read this for some real facts

    LAW ENFORCEMENT FACTS
    Key Data about the Profession
There are more than 800,000 sworn law enforcement officers now serving in the United States, which is the highest figure ever. About 12 percent of those are female.
Crime fighting has taken its toll. Since the first recorded police death in 1786, there have been more than 22,000 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Currently, there are 22,217 names engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
A total of 1,627 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty during the past 10 years, an average of one death every 54 hours or 163 per year. There were 135 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in 2019.
According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report 2018 LEOKA report:
There have been 58,866 assaults against law enforcement officers in 2018, resulting in 18,005 injuries.
The 1920s were the deadliest decade in law enforcement history, when a total of 2,517 officers died, or an average of almost 252 each year. The deadliest year in law enforcement history was 1930, when 312 officers were killed. That figure dropped dramatically in the 1990s, to an average of 163 per year.
The deadliest day in law enforcement history was September 11, 2001, when 72 officers were killed while responding to the terrorist attacks on America.
The New York City Police Department has lost more officers in the line of duty than any other department, with 941 deaths. Texas has lost 1,772 officers, more than any other state. The state with the fewest deaths is Vermont, with 24.
There are 1,181 federal officers listed on the Memorial, as well as 720 correctional officers and 44 military law enforcement officers.
There are 365 female officers listed on the Memorial; 11 female officers were killed in 2019.

Times have sure changed. In a nearby town of about 25,000 population the only policeman killed in the line of duty was on July 21, 1937. The killer was wounded in the shootout, but was sentenced to death the next week, and executed on September 3, 1937. No messing around with endless appeals and stays then.

DT, your as bad as the all mighty Togor with your ideas of police. Police do not make the laws the politicians do. They just enforce the law. Mandates made by the likes of Governors if not reputed by the state legislature carry the weight of law. So your complaints about them enforcing rules and such set forth by politicians again have the force of law. Then its up to the courts to say yes or no to an arrest. So if you have a bitch take it to the legislature and change the law and don't try to hang it on the police just trying to do their job.

Tuna not riding to DT's rescue as he neither wants or needs rescuing, but you know darn well cops are not mindless automatons executing the programmed instructions of their supervisors. They're equipped with judgement, and theoretically the training that allows them to use it wisely. Which means yes, selective enforcement of a lot of little things. And of course the law holds that while they have you detained you're kind of stuck. That can be irritating. Just how it is. You know all of this better than me, which makes your post a bit disingenuous.

But that's not the current narrative. Police, to the National Socialists, are a different species. They were born police, with every possible flaw and behavioral problem, and they need to be eradicated, like coyotes or mosquitoes.

Many Sheriffs have declared they will not enforce dictatorial directives.
City Police Chiefs are political and do what they're told no matter what that is.

Togor your missing the point again. A police officer makes an arrest for what ever matter. It's no longer up to him or her. It is now in the hands of the courts. A judge decides from that point on. I have seen as many times as not of a judge going with the defendant. Case closed. Now as to Sheriffs. They are also political in nature. What ever wind blows in their county is going to be the way they will lean. It's all politics no matter how you look at it. But the day to day job of enforcement stays the same.
