    Hardly Jeremiah Johnsons
Yes, I noticed the same thing. Always hard to tell who's faking it for TV, & who's real--relatively, I mean, since a TV show is a TV show. The Hailstone family on the Arctic circle seems closest to "real" to me--after all, Chip really did go to jail for several months after an altercation with an Alaskan State Trooper. His Eskimo wife & kids sure seem like the real thing to me--like when they butchered a 200 lb seal in their "living room."

Watch the series "Alone". One group of individuals per season, real survival stakes. One guy trapped a wolverine and killed it with his bare hands.

        speaking of reality shows,

friend went on one of them, he had a NFA firearm that was not very common that needed repair/restore, and got on the show with it,

        nothing is real about it,

the gun was fixed/restored, not so much by the goober the show was about, and he (my friend) was handed a script,
he was not allowed to deviate from the script, no ad lib, nothing,

        and he is a talker,

he was not exactly thrilled by that experience

What a coincidence! All my guns were taken from my winter house in the desert!
