On another board a member noted that Biden won Arizona because by 10,000 votes because 51,000 people voted for the Libertarian candidate, he asked why the people who believe in little government couldn't vote for the candidate for lesser government and ensured the victory of the party of Big Government. He noted that protest votes-Ross Perot, e.g.-usually achieve the opposite of what they want. Another board member said his brother is a Libertarian, always claiming things are so bad because "his" candidate didn't win, my experience with Libertarians is they're just as ideologically driven as Leftists, and like Leftists they put dogma before reality.
The Libertarians won Arizona for Biden

They delivered Georgia to Biden also, among others. You are right, as a group Libertarians are quite willing to vote their party even if it insures what, for them, is the greater of two evils wins. There have been a couple of articles I've read about the Libertarian roll in the election of Joe Biden. On another board a member noted that Biden won Arizona because by 10,000 votes because 51,000 people voted for the Libertarian candidate, he asked why the people who believe in little government couldn't vote for the candidate for lesser government and ensured the victory of the party of Big Government. Who will not vote for the lesser of two evils automatically votes for the greater of those two evils. On another board a member noted that Biden won Arizona because by 10,000 votes because 51,000 people voted for the Libertarian candidate, he asked why the people who believe in little government couldn't vote for the candidate for lesser government and ensured the victory of the party of Big Government. Trump lost Arizona because of himself. Same for McSally. She was rejected once by the voters, and she was appointed by the governor...and though a fair appointment, did not earn reelection.
It's much easier to address problems if you're not looking to assign blame elsewhere."The first gun that was fired at Fort Sumter sounded the death-knell of slavery. They who fired it were the greatest practical abolitionists this nation has produced." ~BG D. UllmanComment

It is a fact that the Green Party Candidate, Ralph Nader cost Gore Florida in 2000. No Ralph Nader/Green Party vote Gore takes Florida. Gore takes Florida he's President.Trump lost Arizona because of himself. Same for McSally. It is a fact that the vast majority people voting Green Party would not have chosen George Bush.
The same is true with this race when it comes to Libertarians.
Generally, Libertarians hurt Republicans more than the Green Party hurts Democrats, simply because there are more of them.
It isn't necessarily a matter of blame, people vote how they want. It's a matter of analysis of the facts, the results and the consequences.Last edited by Art; 11-25-2020, 09:32.Comment

They'd probably offer a cute argument about both parties being equally evil. I hope feeling right will prove a worthwhile consolation to libertarians as they're confined to their homes and disarmed.Comment

Libertarians have an eclectic mix of views. In a moment they can go from something that sounds incredibly reasonable to something that is supremely impractical. My main beef with them is that they would be incapable of preventing foreign governments or corporations from plundering this country's natural resources.Comment

I have always told people who promote third party candidates to focus on down ballot races, preferably local. Can't remember which Congress it was, maybe Bush II, but the difference between D and R on several votes was only 2 or 3. Third party could have been king makers. Same in the state house.Comment
