It comes as no surprise that the Chinese government lies to the public, and to foreign governments, and that government officials lie to each other.

But this does not put Trump's quotes to Bob Woodward in a less-authoritarian light, does it. Lying to the public while emphasizing social control and law & order are staples of authoritarian regimes.
