    Top US Murder cities..

Top US Murder cities..but there are also others with high murder rates...

NYC records most murders since 2011 as killings surge 41% this year compared to 2019 and police commissioner says: 'I can´t imagine a darker period'

The number of killings represents a 41 per cent increase over those seen in 2019

The people shot more than doubled the 2019's total and nears a 14-year high

The 2020 murders marked the third consecutive year of rising homicides

Also Los Angeles, which has 4million residents, had 322 homicides as of December 12 - up 30.4 per cent from 247 at the same point last year - for a rate of about 8 per 100,000.
Killings in Chicago, meanwhile, are up about 56 per cent this year.

Wonder what caused the spike in 2011

Ray, are you suggesting gun control is the answer? DailyMail is saying the US is very violent, because of gun ownership.

This point runs counter to the forum, and the 2nd Amendment.

Gun ownership was about the same in the 1980s in NYC when the murder rate Tthere was very high as it was in the early part of this century when New York was the safest big city in the United States. The difference was "broken windows policing" which made people much less likely to take an illegal gun onto the street. New York has gone back to public safety policies that were very similar to those when I worked there in the 1990s when NYC was a sewer; in fact its probably worse now than then because of intimidation of the police and city governments that oppose essential crime reducing items like cash bond.

Gun control is for the law abiding. The mass shootings would not be affected in the least by any gun law. These people aren't affected by any law, and the socialist democrats wants to make it easier for them to get out of jail and go back to what they were doing.

Cook County imposed a violence tax on all firearms and ammunition sales. They also did away with f2f transfers. So the dealers can collect the violence tax too
The violence tax must be working as violence has gone up exponentially since enacted. (Tic)

I think I have mentioned that you can go to the FBI Crime Statistics report and see that 51% of all US counties (or equivalent) have zero homicides. Five percent account for 68% of all homicides. Now the gun control laws are about the same for the 51% as they are for the 5% -- if anything, gun control is more "lax" in the counties that have no homicides.

So how come NOBODY wants to talk about what makes the 5% different from the 51%?
