    A day late

So, after a shocking invasion of one of our sacred buildings there are a few hundred NG guys sitting around in the halls. Way to go. Are they armed? No. Are they going to go football and knock the protesters over? No. What's the point? The riot is over. The animosity isn't over. Let's string up DT. I thought the Democrats were the nice ones. I don't see how this is helping. By the way, I agree with the guy on t.v. Healing the country isn't what we're doing now. That's a ways away. If ever. I'm waay more right than left, but I somehow wish(and again, it wouldn't be good) the capitol police had the OK and training and cojones to mow some of those idiots down. Put stupid people to work. It keeps them happy. Idle hands are the devils workshop. I'll bet we can build way bigger statues than the Easter Islanders.

I liked the posturing of taking racks of M16's out of the trucks and lining them up out in the open,

I have one of those racks up in the attic, they are not that hard to defeat,

and were are the mags, ammo, etc?

when did we ever have the NG set out , in public view, racks and racks of small arms?

      looked like manufactured drama,

"The Trump is coming, the Trump is coming" cried Pelosi
in a pathetic imitation of Sybil Ludington.

Well the Army NG is sitting around on their asses on hard surfaces because the Air Force rented out all the hotel rooms and padded chairs. The Guard and who ever else is there are there because the inauguration committee which consists of six elected officials to include McConnel and Pelosi requested the extra security. The Democrat's aren't complaining about it. The feed back I'm getting from my European friends which I agree with, is it makes it look like the leaders of our nation are afraid of our own people. So Trump as the sitting President and Commander In Chief is allowing the DC elite to look stupid in the face of the people and the world. Trump as the CIC could have scaled down the requests because the service chiefs still work for him, instead he has allowed the Guard to show up with weapons.

Only a complete group of idiots would attempt something with all those troops around. Last week they had the element of surprise. They no longer have that.

I'm reminded of a cartoon I saw posted in the Observer/Controller area at the Joint Readiness Training Center (Fort Polk, LA)

Artilleryman, up to his hips in the swamp. Rain coming down. "This sucks!"
Infantryman, up to his hips in the swamp. Rain coming down. "I kinda like the way this sucks!"
Ranger, up to his hips in the swamp. Rain coming down. "I wish this sucked even more!"
Airforce weenie, lying on a bed in the motel. "What, no cable TV? This sucks!"

I asked our son, who was a Ranger in Iraq, what did he find the most unpleasant thing to endure. Luke said that almost universally knowing that coming back from a mission to their "safe" area the fare would be chicken with rice or rice with chicken.

When I was in high school I had a friend who was in Nam and somehow had the displeasure of a Sgt. The Sgt. along with other's were out on patrol and needed a resupply of food along with ammo. My buddy was tasked, along with another soldier, to load the Huey. He went and filled up the cartons with the H@M, said it took him along time to do this. He knew that when the Sgt. got back my friend would be on R&R and the Sgt. was scheduled to be rotated out of the unit. When my buddy got back from his R&R he talked to one of the men who had been on the patrol. The guy said that the Sgt. caught hell from every man on the patrol! Rumor was that the Sgt. LIKED this type of meal.

I remember my company was issued C-rats dated 1944 (this was in '69). They were edible -- except for the cigarettes. They burned like gunpowder.
