The liberals and conservative judiciary have found common cause at the moment on a more pressing matter, which is the defense of the democratic process itself from the hard-core anti-liberals and reactionaries, who profess allegiance to Trump at the moment but may well transfer that allegiance to another.

Conservative: someone who pursues liberal ends while retaining respect for existing public and private institutions.

Anti-Liberal: someone who opposes liberal ends. Anti-liberals invariably align themselves with authoritarian figures. Religion is a fertile source of anti-liberalism.

Key point is: Conservatives don't reject liberalism so much as want to keep it from going off the deep end. January 6 was not a Conservative protest. That was a display of support for an anti-liberal authoritarian.

Point being, liberals and a conservative judiciary have a common enemy that just presented itself.
